I relentlessly questioned the big/little cores, and they gave me their word they would give me absolute hell, when trying to multi-thread.For single threaded tasks they pleaded the 5th, but seem to be okay on the Rammin'Jammin' machine.
Say hello to my new grandchild!
I couldn't resist, the price is for the components alone (or less?), thanks to Intel's/Motherboard Mfg'rs overzealous power pumping scheme to beat AMD.

Having pre-tested all my rigs on the most recent PG challenge, I was more than surprised and frustrated that one machine would immediately power down once the CPU was loaded with tasks. Temps at idle were good, must be a failing power supply? Nope, but definitely a hardware failure, lol. Good...
I wish to run for SG this year, as a token of appreciation for the many many many spectacular events they have hosted over the years. I won't peek at your plans, I promise. I'll just run the Marathon and GPU project(s). (Assuming the marathon project is STABLE, might switch up as needed...
Jon, I see you back there. I'll just take the next exit for a pit stop, and let you pass. I just got the scorched paint buffed out from the last challenge, when Markfw came rocketing by me. ;)
I'll run flat out just until my next TRP milestone (or maybe the 2nd next, depending on how quickly points progress) , as a stress test for the Pentathlon. So I have either 4.6 or 14.6 million to go.
A LOOOOONNNNGGGG time ago, I was browsing the MW forum and came across a user complaining that the multi-threaded CPU tasks were not fully utilizing his 14 core server chip. My reaction (hopefully I didn't post anything, personal thoughts instead...) were much the same as some users react to...
It is sort of a challenge to get sieve tasks these days, so....SR5 Sieve is currently issuing WUs. Happy April's Fools Day! No, seriously, tasks are available. ;) Have fun coloring your badge!
Yes. 2 will be discovered actually. One for me, and one for you. I've been watching ESPN and have discovered I am actually a psychotic. I even went so far as to go buy a lottery ticket. :P
Big primes do seem to be FEW and FAR between these days, don't they? Lot's of AP's left to find though...
I was happy to get my P-articipation award early, and switched to Mega primes, but mostly I started leveling up some projects from 2M to 5M milestones for this month. But, I'm happy to report I just got an email, and sadly it was not a DYFL task, but only a GFN-18 task, pending approval. ;)...
Certainly an odd situation, thanks for getting the word out about it. I think most of our heavy hitters are only Folding with GPU though. I guess for now you may want to use the other half of the CPU for BOINC medical projects.
Congrats to the new T-shirt capital letter "P" winners!
GFN-23-EXTREME-DYFL only runs 15 minutes longer than 22 does, on a 4090, but pays an extra 200,000. (I got bored. :) ) (GFN-22 6h30m, GFN-23 6h45m)
Things are well over here Pokey. :) Been Folding since the last PG event ended, glad to see a winter time Folding competition has emerged! Thanks @Endgame124 !
I ran a few tests already as well. :) 7950x with the smaller cache runs about 14.5 hours with all 32 threads. 4x8threads didn't do so well. I should try 2x16 threads, I suppose. Tasks score upwards of 107,000 points each.
I'd say no. Looks like they were doing a follow-up study of a GRB found previously. The original GRB however, may be DC related, Einstein, if so.
EDIT: I mistook G for gravity, instead of gamma, not Einstein related then.
I am only aware of 2 ISP's in my city for wired home internet. Naturally my choice of providers went down (for the whole town!) for several hours in the last hours of the race. Still very impressed with my placement, running just a 4090 and a 2080Ti.
Congrats Crash! heck of a score!
I might have picked up a 4090 as well. :D The 2080Ti was respectably returning a result at about the 9 minute mark....the 4090 is six times faster, at less than 90 seconds.
I'd have to say there are 2 reasons DC may be in decline.
1.) FEW home computers are sold these days, as most phones fulfill people's needs, and laptops are more affordable than ever.
2.) Screen savers. Ain't nobody gots no screensavers no more! Nothing like watching SETI calculations happen...
I'm going to sit out this round, I don't have any AVX-512 hardware or equivalent. It would be like running Universe on Windows, or a GPU project on CPU. Just not an efficient use of my hardware this time around. Have fun!!
