Cheers!
I've read various forums and reviews. I have the RTX 4080, and I was wondering how much better the 4090 is. From the graphs in reviews, it seems to be around 27-30%. However, I can't imagine how much noticeable can be in practice. Can you tell me if that's a significant leap to be astonished by? Of course, I'm referring to the 30%. Is considering an upgrade from the 4080 to the 4090 nonsense?

My normal PC: 7800x3d, RTX 4080, GSKILL 64GB 6Ghz CL30, B650 TomaHawk Wi-Fi, MSI 850AG 850W, Corsair H150i Capellix XT, 4 x SSD M2 1TB, LianLi 216 Case.

So nothing special.

At 4K, where the 4090 has its largest lead, you're looking at roughly a 30% performance bump over the standard 4080, as well as a boatload more RAM.

As a rule of thumb, you want a minimum 30% performance increase *at the same price* every two years for an upgrade to be worth it (historical gen on gen minimum upgrade at the same price point).

4090's go for around $2k nowadays, you probably bought your 4080 for $1200, and you can probably sell it for something like $900 nowadays. So something like an $1100 outlay for 30% more performance at 4k (less at lower resolutions).

If that is worth it or not is entirely up to you.

About an extra 26 FPS on average.

Per dollar, not worth the upgrade IMHO. 4090s are stupidly expensive lately (if even in stock). As already suggested, wait for the NV 5000 series. We should see 4090 performance in a 5080 class card by then (for less $$) - I wish we'd see that in a 5070 Ti class card - but that time seems to have gone by with the increasing costs of silicon manufacturing. A 5090 should be pretty killer, but given the AI/DL/ML performance of current '90 class cards - they are selling too well to have competitive prices.

Performance per dollar it's probably not worth it, especially if you're playing high FPS competitive shooters where it's less benefit. If you want to play 4k CP2077 with RT, then it's a bigger boost.

That being said you've got a great system outside of it that can fully utilize it. It won't blow your mind, but if you've got the budget it's a 10 minute upgrade. Might not make sense, but YOLO and enjoy if you want.

You are saying that with CP2077 RT it’s a bigger boost, so do you mean 30%?

Back when the 4080 was $1200 and the 4090 was $1600, I feel it was worth it. Now that there's a 4080 Super for $1000, and the 4090 is around $2000, not so much. Since you've already got a 4080, I'd stick with it until the next generation comes around.

Basically. If you're playing CS2 competitively at 1080p, you really don't gain much going to a 4090 where you might now get 550 FPS instead of 500. CP2077 RT @ 4k RT you'd probably still turn on DLSS, but there it's a noticeable difference.

Seems like a slow clap brag post ending it with "So nothing special".

If this is a real question, like everything in the world.... depends on your (or your parents) disposable income. You already have a 4080, I'd sit with that until next gen.

Circumstances where 4090 provides a significant bump over 4080 are largely confined to 4K with RT. In those instances you can see 40% more performance.

That said, I agree that with the current jump over the $1600 MSRP, worth waiting for the end of the year and the 5090.
