In theory, the work queue of each folding slot is managed independently (i.e. work requests, downloads, running the folding core, uploads). But I have seen the client working itself into a mess with one slot, and subsequently behaving abnormally with the other slot too.

That said, WU availability on Saturday and Sunday was much increased for all teams, and even the highly increased production at AWSFolds caused only a small decrease from Saturday to Sunday at the other two largest teams. So it is possible that what you saw was more due to the generally improved task availability, and less due to changes of your configurations.

Yeah i had hoped wu delivery was just being better, been well over 12 hours since i had to pause the client to get a wu. Been on a roll here, went to bed like at 12:45 last night, was up at 4am and both clients just humming along nicely Makes me happy, that and the rig up here is actually heating my room ha. Rest of the house has to be like 15 degrees cooler at least. I rarely run gas heating, i sleep as good as i can when its really cold

Brrr, that's far too cold for me to sleep! Lol, my room was down to 17C this morning which was just ok (without adding a 2nd duvet anyway!).
I really noticed how much colder my flat was this morning without the 2nd rig running!

Doesn't appear any settings drop usage down even a hair on this client, i was hoping to buy back like perhaps 10% of the gpu resources for my desktop while i am in front of it. Entire desktop is lagging cause of the pegged gpu and even youtube/forum chat stutters and text like LOADS its quite great. I could deal with it if need be but was wondering if anything could drop it like 10% or something so entire desktop isn't running like crud

I like how i had something like 60% gpu usage in BF5, and like every other game is cpu bottlenecked and it took folding to finally peg this 1080ti. At least pulling maximum performance NOW out of this thing ha.

I think i could disable gpu acceleration on the browser....Yeah now we are cooking with gas. Much better

Their used to be a way to throttle F@H GPU, but I'm thinking back to the days of an X1950pro I had! So I don't know if you still can. I'm sure an experienced folder will answer that soon .
As far as gaming goes, I just pause folding

Yeah been to involved to even consider games, i got one open atm that more or less runs on a potato and it was running at like 4-15fps but after like 10 minutes it must have gotten priority and now running just fine. Dropped like 10% ppd but got youtube/facebook and this open as well. The game normally runs like idk 5% of the gpu, i ran it on a c2d and intel onboard from same era without much of a issue even if it did glitch out.

Best of both worlds? I think so!

You could go to the Advanced Control panel and adjust the slider down to 'Light' usage. Might help. In Windows you will see the Folding icon in the bar down by the clock, right clicking there also allows you to set it to 'Light'.

I think the theory is that once the GPU is used by another program, F@H will automatically pause (perhaps after reaching a checkpoint), then resume once nothing else is using the GPU.

90C!? Yikes! What temp's was it hitting under P95?

[...]
About 80c at 4.3GHz, while getting to 95c at 4.25GHz with F@h. Both with a Corsair H150i for a cooler on full blast, which I've been wondering whether I should've replaced the stock thermal paste.
Ironically, the CPU remained completely stable, which makes me wish I invested into a better mobo (like that ASRock Taichi which AT reviewers like a lot).

The one good thing I'd say about F@h in that regard is that the resource management is great. I don't know whether it's actually a Windows thing, but F@h running on low priority doesn't affect doing other stuff on the computer at all. Been playing the new Doom and folding simultaneously without a hiccup (what's more there is to ask?).

WUs are getting longer (1.5hrs -> 3.5hrs) and GPUs are running warmer in this latest batch from what I notice.

Current WU my RX580 is crunching has been running for 2hrs20 mins & it's at 83%, no idea how that compares to previous WUs though, nor how to find out their run times!

Wasn't interested in a pause, kinda wanted less usage just a hair but fixed browser lag by just disabling acceleration. No longer a issue and if i decide to game, yeah no issues pausing. The game from earlier meh it runs at 8-14fps for like 10 minutes before clearing up and goes to like closer to 30 . Not even gonna bother losing the 10% ppd for that non sense. Not much in the mood for gaming honestly these days, losing lots of interest almost considered selling rig but won't since i am folding That and maybe some games MAY come out end of year and be good and inspire me again.

Jumping in with a 36 core server and a Titan XP. Do I have to specify any work unit types in control?
Well, you can't do that. Buet most of the units are covid-19. Just use Team 198 and your username. Dont forget to get a passkey, as that gets you a lot of points after 10 units,

Like the energizer bunny over here, the wus keep on going and going. I am beyond happy right now. GJ over there who ever fixed the WU issues. We only wanna do more so yeah those WU should have been priority a bit ago. Been now more of a set and forget set up for both rigs, i still check on the other downstairs periodically like every hour still.

Hoping we make that Exascale look like childs play VERY soon.

Edit: I got a like new gtx285 with like 20 odd hours on it, is this thing even worth slapping in here? What sorta PPD can it get? I hate seeing that thing sitting in the anti static bag being useless outside of a little retro BF2/Bioshock/UT3 nostalgia gaming. I would need to roll with 342.01 drivers with this gtx285. Latest supported for W10.

After a long hiatus I am back for a bit. Fired up F@H but the client is stuck downloading and waiting for "WS Assignment". PEBKAC or work server temporarily down?

More of the latter. Lots of clients and not enough work to go around. Earlier in the thread, some folks update the client-type to beta.

Hmm, does "client-type: beta" apply to all GPU slots, or just particular ones?

I've decided to join the excitement too, now that the WU shortage is over (I hope!). Got a WU for my RX 5700 just now, but the GTX 1660ti is still waiting.

I remember adding "client-type: beta" for my RX 5700, but I don't know if that applies client-wide, or just to the slot.

Edit: That didn't take long, my GTX 1660ti just picked up a WU too.
