That 2080ti is pressing on the mind something fierce, with the 1080ti it would just be boss folding late nite while i sleep and often times during the day and destroy any current 1080p title. Mainly wanting to go back to 1440p but currently love the overkill 1080p performance of the 1080ti and i would want the same making the move back to 1440p. I got a monitor picked out for May. Biggest thing is how my Z270 gonna handle such a setup? Prob better, could my Seasonic Focus 650W gold rated unit handle 2 stock fully loaded gpus. I wouldn't bother loading up the cpu at this point.....

Decisions decisions. At least with the 2080ti the ppd boost will be idk at least 3x that of a 3900x upgrade? Correct me if wrong, this is a guesstimate. This one right in my sights and the stimulus would clear. May in theory, i could easily get a 3700x or if i penny pitch a 3900x is possible still. Got ballpark like $850 to play around with at that point and time.

I would have to go look, but I think all 5 of mine are that card. 3 currently have work and average is 2.9 million ppd each.

Something went south in the system. only 6 of my 12 cards now have work. ppd went from 24 million to 11.

Not bad yeah i may be sold. 1.6mill ppd to 2.9ppd is insane. Friend of mine has me helping her configure a rig. 2 gpus may be a bit much for my psu but no worries the universe has provided me the answers i needed. The friend coming out perhaps in Aug wants me to build her a pc. So the 1080ti will get passed down to my friend who has a 1050ti and well i would move that 1050ti into my friends proposed build.

She picked a mini itx case, the 1050ti will be as snug as a bug with a proposed 1600af cpu since she is on a budget. When i upgrade, others get upgrades too. Yeah the friend on the 1050ti is gonna be in for a rude awakening when she goes from a 1050ti to a 1080ti. That poor 2500k is gonna choke! Its ok, by May she will have the 7700k. Could tell her to max out everything with no worries since she games at 1080p.

How'd you guys keep getting GPU WUs? My GPU has been idle for the longest time :/ The CPUs on the other hand are happily cranking away, but their return is honestly rather meh.

I know I posted this elsewhere, but if your having difficulty getting work units the following might be helpful:

client-type: advanced might help you (works for both cpus and gpus):
https://foldingathome.org/support/faq/installation-guides/configuration-guide/#advanced-methods

it might be helpful to obtain work units early:
https://foldingathome.org/support/faq/installation-guides/configuration-guide/#next-unit-percentage
Default is to wait until 99% done, but I would suggest setting it to 90%.

edit: Personally, I would implement the first idea, but not make the change to 90%. You lose too many points on the downloaded task (because of the quick return bonus) while waiting for the current task to finish up. But if setting the client to 'advanced' doesn't help, then by all means, explore the 2nd option. If you are REALLY feeling frisky, try 'beta' instead of 'advanced', but there are risks. Advanced seems to be working for a lot of people though.

The Z270 platform is good for two big GPUs. Most Z270 based motherboards will give 8 PCIe v3 lanes to each of the GPUs, which is plenty for games and folding.

The PSU though? I have doubts. You can of course define stricter power limits for each GPU and/or for the CPU than the BIOSes set per default, especially while folding. But this doesn't sound all that reliable.

I got other ideas now, check my prior post to MarkFW.

only 81 million to go.... 19 million in 5 hours ? That is gain, not total points.
Output of all teams is falling like a stone.
EOC's aggregate: 33 B 7-day average, 25 B in last 24 h (75 % of the average)

Tom's output fell considerably quicker than ours, that's why we gained so much over them during the last day or so. But our output is falling now too. If this continues, we still may run into difficulties to achieve that goal of a 1 B delta.

Tom's Hardware: 242 M 7-day average, 175 M in last 24 h (72 % of the average)
TeAm AnandTech: 306 M 7-day average, 241 M in last 24 h (79 % of the average)

--------
Edit,
serverstats is showing half the "assign rate" now than it did about a day ago. =:-O

The well has ran dry on my machine. Tried the "beta" flag- still dry, tried "advanced"- still dry. Rosetta seems to be running smoothly though.

Ken g6's graph looks like we are still doing very well.

Setting the advanced client type about doubled my work load. I still have idle time, but not nearly as much.

Our advantage

So, the TeAm now ranks 18th in the world. But that will change in about 12 hours, as we overtake team 'Pleasuredome Community.' Therefore we will soon return to our long held 17th place....which we stole from Tom's a few Decembers ago.
Done!

We just hit #17
Another milestone for the team, 100k WUs in a month!

FWIW it looks like Tom's active user count is dropping. Either people too fed up to get WUs, or the end of the contest, or people tightening the belt given the economic situation.

I had to idle my machine. Moved from the basement to the living room. Temps ramped up and hit the steep part of my fans curves. Since I’m not deaf like Mark, it’s game over for the year. I’d love to have the money to run a stand alone dual GPU rig year round in the basement like I used to

Did you try setting your power limits to minimums? Your WUs will be slower, but they'll still get done.

I have all of my 3900x/3950x on AIO's. I think I could hear then, and they were silent, but pretty sure regardless, they are. Thats an option for sure.

Well, I have an AIO, just waiting for an AM4 adapter bracket, as Mark suggests. Won’t be here to Wednesday. Ill try backing of my GPU power and see what happens. Thanks guys!

I setup a r250X on my A10-7800K. Extremely surprising to me, I’m hitting 100,000 to 110,000 points per day with the 2 video cards in the system, and it only uses 8-10% cpu to feed both of them. AMD cards seem to be much happier in Windows than Nvidia cards

Our advantage

We are now 1,015,556,491 points ahead of Tom's.
Meanwhile, both teams together made 9,252,504,001 points. If we keep it up, we might make it to 10 billion combined — but it's going to be close:

Both teams combined
