Good grief, I guess I finally gave up on the long waited drop in GPU prices. Every time Ive done a search it appears the prices are still holding where they were last year this time. I settled on a dog gone 5 year old 2080 TI FE that was being sold locally. I got the price down from 400 to 325, no taxes to pay and no shipping and its working great, appears to be in excellent condition, clean and no burning smells, runs quiet enough and performs great. I know I have a PCIE 4x system but this little bird will do what I wanted it for and as long as it doesnt suffer from sudden infant death syndrome on me I will be happy with it.

Good luck with you adventures to find the best you can get.

I've been looking for something in the $100 range for my secondary PC. No pressure, just would be nice to let the 980ti rest.

What blows my mind is what a cluster the $100 market is. You have everything from 3060's and 5700's all the way down to 1070's and Vega 56's in the price range. Honestly a little absurd.

It's all crammed together and no one seems to know what's worth what down there.

Well, card prices have ticked up again - but I’m pretty sure that’s just so that consumers will be awed by the Black Friday prices.
Rumours has it that the Chinese are heavy in the market atm to beat the USA banning the 4090 from being sold in China. It may flow on to other sku's.

There's this frankenGPU with a loud fan: https://www.ebay.com/itm/234908325972

I think this is very reasonable considering 1660s are selling for higher prices: https://www.ebay.com/itm/256281771530

I'm sure that's part of it. Prices on a few things rise to make those discounts look better than they really are.

However, I ended up pulling the trigger on a 7800 XT Hellhound from Microcenter a week ago. Got a QHD monitor for a good price, and needed something more powerful than my lowly RX 6600. At least for this card, it's not like the price has risen appreciably since it's release.

The one brightside: my CC has a price rewind feature that has a window of at least 2 months.

- Thanks for the suggestions, but jumping off a 980Ti means I need *at least* 1080Ti raster performance or better to really make it worth my while (hell my mainline upgrade was a 6800XT), and a feature upgrade to DLSS support and basic RT would be nice. So I'm really looking closely at more 5700XT/2070S level offerings.

This is more of a want than a need, so I'm in no rush to jump at the first thing that comes my way, I tend to work the best offers angle quite a bit, especially on listings that sit. I've gotten some very, very solid deals on cards that aren't seeing any action cause the seller set the starting price way too high, but left room for negotiation through best offers.

RTX, RDNA2/3, and ARC, would be the only cards I'd consider with 2024 almost here. I think we are at an inflection point.

- Agreed, and I thought a 6600 XT or 6600 would be hitting those $100 price points now but no, still floating at about $120 + shipping.

RTX still hauling around that NV tax, even ancient 2xxx series cards are frustratingly close but not at that $100 mark for the more reasonable offers. Lotta nutters out there thinking that their Vanilla 2060 can command a $200 price point...

Arc just hasn't been around long enough to have properly discounted models for sale, mostly early adopters shedding the cards after their curiosity has been sated. Wouldn't mind a 750 for $100 but no, still sticking closer to $200 used.

The RDNA 1 cards (5700 XT) are coming closest to the $100 shipped line, and I could *probably* get one for that amount if I worked the market a little bit, but lacking any "next gen" features I would really just be getting a 60% raster performance bump on a machine that already does "ok" at 1080p.

I agree its DX12U compliance or bust these days for cards you want to use for a while or aren't using for one particular purpose. If you just want to run Zwift, of CS2 or WoW then yeah, pretty much anything is fine.

I agree about 2060 being a nuts at $200, but when a 2070S is comparable in most games to a 3060, it's not so nutty at $200.

Some pretty decent choices in the $70 to $80 range. I'm hoping to get a sub 50 watts Intel Arc budget video card eventually for under $90.

4090 ban is possibly leading to a surge of 7900 XT/X sales in China.

Well, 4090 prices have gone through the roof. I snagged a 4090 for $1700 at 2 am on black friday, but 6 am they were gone, and NO 4090 was below $2200 on black friday after that. Today my card is $2700 !!! WTF ????

AI. It's the new Ethereum. Nvidia is not sad at all

Right now all the 4090's that were in China are being disassembled and put into custom PCBs to facilitate denser deployments with blower fans. I don't know how many that was, but there are pictures of pallets upon pallets upon pallets and full factories are being dedicated to the effort.

Epic timing on your part though - nice work!

I was considering a 3090 for some AI video generation for our products. Maybe I should do that soon. It sounds like China will hoover up the worlds supply of those shortly because of their memory allocation.

Which one you got? This is your 2nd one I presume? How much power do they pull during your DC workloads?

Shipping time for cards is about 1 month, so with the ban going into effect on November 17th, we should see these cards flooding back into other markets starting halfway into December. So just be a little patient and prices should drop down to normal in December or January.

Mine went up to $2900

Not selling but that is insane.
This is probably a really short and steep price peak, so perfect for selling now and buying back in a month or two, even if you have to temporarily get a 4070 or so.

Although you probably don't need the money if you could afford a 4090.
