There have been almost 500 arrests in the insurrection thing so far...wonder what theyre going to find?

As already mentioned in this topic. It'd be good to review who/what/where/why/when regarding the security and decision making behind the security that day.

Weren't the Benghazi hearing all about prosecuting the people who conducted the attack? /S

That's why this commission MUST go on. Just brut politics this shit, screw what the pubs want, and we will have our Benghazi show hearing. It Fn works! There is no bi-partisanship anymore. Manchin needs to understand who he's dealing with.
Yes! Right along with EVERY bill put on the floor for a vote.

Justin Amash nailed it;

"For the most part, the speaker of the House and the Senate majority leader, and to some extent the minority leaders in each party, run the show. Along with the president of the United States. And the other people are just there to press buttons...It's not a legislative body in the true sense."

Uh, that many or most of those who participated are Trump supporters? I thought that was common knowledge?

Nuh-uhh! It was Antifas & it wasn't an insurrection, anyway! Trump did not hurl an angry mob against Congress as a last ditch attempt to overthrow Democracy! Never happened! And if he did, it was completely justified because the election was stolen! Fuck you, Libtards!

I think one of the most interesting things they could find is what occurred on the phone call between Trump and Kevin McCarthy. Originally reports stated it was a screaming match where McCarthy was begging for help and Trump responded 'well it looks like [the insurrectionists] are a lot angrier about the election than you are'.

Now, McCarthy is pretending that didn't happen and really they just had a regular old phone call. It would be good to get him on the record under oath as to the contents of that call as it would be very helpful in determining just how serious Trump's complicity in the insurrection was.

It was a witch hunt to persecute she who must not be named. It was also a smear against brave patriots in the State Dept who put themselves out there in a lot of sketchy situations that don't always work out. That's not a new thing or unique to Ben-fucking-ghazi.

Not as common as you think, at least among Republicans.

Nearly a third (31%) of Republicans blame the Democratic Party for the violence at the Capitol. Antifa – the informal anti-fascist political activist group – was blamed by over one-fifth (22%) of Republicans, while 16% blamed the U.S. Capitol Police, who have reported that over 70 officers were injured in the siege.

This is how insane the GOP has become - a crowd of people waving Trump flags attack the capitol to overthrow democracy and they blame the Democrats and ANTIFA.

This is why commissions like this matter - more than half the Republican Party has simply gone insane and is living in a fantasy world.

Their fantasy world is not altered by fact finding or any sort of truth. Best we can hope for is to dull their recruitment. People not yet indulged may be able to see reason from madness.

I agree - as you say they will continue to push their fantasy narrative as hard as they can so it’s important to keep the truth front and center.

The goal in their lies isn’t even necessarily to convince the public, it’s to cloud the issue so badly that people give up. The old ‘firehose of falsehood’ strategy.

Amash is coping out on this one. If the President, Speaker and Majority leader run the show we would have many more reforms in the legislative pipeline.

So once again liberals make them misbehave. God, we've got such power.

The poll is unclear as to if they think the Democrats made Trump supporters engage in insurrection or if the insurrectionists were secret democrats impersonating Trump supporters. Either way it’s deeply insane.

Otherwise known as flooding the zone with shit. It gives the gullible an opportunity to dig in to denial with what they wanted to believe in the first place.

I mean, who ever imagined that any President would hurl an angry mob against Congress in an attempt to overthrow Democracy? And yet, that's exactly what happened.

What I find even more incredible is that Republicans in Congress apparently have no interest in studying an attack on Congress. The apparent reason for this is they are afraid it will make them look bad.

We have a very serious problem ahead of us where the right is going to attempt to overthrow the constitution and while they’re doing it they will claim their actual goal is to save it.

They lacked the power to do so when Trump was President & have even less today & going forward.

If Antifa hadn't come along as the new and shiny evil, you can bet your life they just would have picked something else. Illegals is tried and true, though so many of them are middle aged whities that might be a tough one.

Anyone who says "Antifa was behind it" might as well be saying Darth Vader or the Dark Lord Sauron were behind it. It's complete and utter made-up garbage that is based on fantasy.

Never underestimate the GOP ability to make up and eventually believe ridiculous crap. It's nothing new but they do seem to be at their most outlandish these days. My evangelical relatives propping up Trump as the chosen of God holds the top spot of hilarity and may never be topped (hopefully)

They don't want to investigate because they already know what they are going to find, and it more then just looks bad.

I disagree. It is just a matter of time before they find a version of Trump that is not lazy. The truth is the only thing that really saved our Democracy these last 4 years is that Trump was just too lazy to really put the effort in. The next one might be much more competent.

And they will get power back. They will probably take the House and perhaps even the Senate in the midterms. I expect that a Republican will win in the next Presidential election. Because their strategy of obstruction works. They block anything and everything the Dems try to do. Then claim the Democrats are not able to get anything done, and use a megaphone that is their propaganda machine to say that you should vote someone in that can actually get something done. That is the only way will fix all the problem (they created).

Please. Trump is an anomaly whose cult of personality failed to prevail. There's nobody to replace him. If you think there might be, name them.
