There are some apps such as Windows optimizers, anti-viruses, etc. that require administrator permissions to run properly. Although many such programs prompt for administrative privileges at the time of execution, those that don’t must be configured manually to do so.
Here’s how:
Step 1
Get to the program’s Properties box
Locate and right-click the .EXE file of the app you want to always run as administrator (Notepad ++ for this example), and click Properties from the context menu. This opens the application’s Properties box with the General tab selected by default. Here you can find the details of the file such as the day it was created or last accessed, available and enabled attributes, etc.
Note: Usually the .EXE file of an installed app are saved in C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86).
Step 2
Enable execution with administrator permission
Get to the Compatibility tab, check the Run this program as an administrator box under the Settings section, and click OK. This makes the app to always run with administrator permissions. Depending on the User Account Control (UAC) settings of your PC, you may be prompted for consent or administrator credentials every time you execute the program.
Step 3
Check the configuration
Double-click the .EXE file you just configured. If you’re prompted to provide your consent or enter the administrator username and password, the configuration was successful. You can repeat the above steps and uncheck the Run this program as an administrator box to undo the change.
