Uhh, no. There is no issue with AMD CPUs and data corruption unless you've pushed a memory or CPU overclock too hard, but that's true of any CPU.
Hmmmm....well I got the info from a CEO/head engineer of a small company anyways he also runs other compilation/simulation tasks

I have seen zero evidence anywhere of any such issue. Do you really think MS, Google, Amazon, Meta, etc. would all be buying AMD CPUs for internal and cloud use if they had an issue with data corruption? These are hundred billion or trillion dollar companies relying on AMD CPUs. Additionally, places like STH, Phoronix, Anandtech, and many others benchmark tons of AMD CPUs and do compiler benchmarks as well, there's never been a single report of data corruption issues from any of them or any reports of significant numbers of end users having issues. I think that trumps whatever your CEO friend of a small company seems to think (without presented evidence).

Which review are you referring to by the way? Must be a bit outdated. I think a direct die cooled 14900KS would reduce that lead by quite a bit. Could even turn the tables in non-AVX-512 benchmarks. You do pay too much for that in terms of heat, noise and power consumption though.
Just use the AT benchmark.
Does the benchmarks account for data integrity? I know an engineer that regularly compiles full Linux kernels that states AMD is indeed faster than Intel in those workloads, but does not have full precision unlike Intel systems
I don't know for sure. I heard something like that but it was ages ago and I doubt that its an issue now.

Sorry unless he provides specific details of the issue preventing him from using AMD products, I will assume he's a nimrod when it comes to assessing hardware capabilities.

I can believe him to be a CEO but head engineer? He needs a "head" engineer himself for his head!

All I know for his claims of certification is 7 degrees in Engineering and working on his PhD, his company is about redesigning components and materials from international partners.

Well that's getting off topic so move on ig

That's no big deal. You do know that education is a game? Those who succeed just understand the rules of the game better.

I used to know a guy (and who I thought was my friend) who barely passed high school. Then he went to some astrologer and was told that he would be very successful in life. He was average in his studies but he made it a point to raise his voice during classes (I was in one of them. His was a BOOMING voice) and get the attention of lecturers. Since the exams weren't multiple choice, he used the brute force method of overwhelming the teacher with gibberish and managed to pass with flying colors because 1) It's not easy to read through gibberish 2) You don't want to deal with an idiot who will shout down at you (because he was above average tall). He is now a Ph.D in data lakes (as far as I know. Haven't seen his official page). During the time when hotmail messenger was active and he was breezing through his studies and exams, I had a chat with him. He couldn't even string together a coherent sentence in English which I found very odd since all his exams were in ENGLISH. Go figure.

My own experience at a 42 bootcamp. I was shortlisted in their all-expenses-paid coding program from a total of 1500 students. Dropped out coz the failure rate was high and the students were using ChatGPT to do their projects. Figured there was no point in learning from being around zombies who were too lazy to use their brains.

So is this the part where you just discredit his certifications, and also ignoring the part where he reinvents machinery(probably doesn't matter) all because you uh wants to one up me or something? He's also one of the best plastic engineers in the US. Can we just go back to the thread topic?

If you really want to contact him to verify, I only knew him as staff on the Linux Mint server as Michael Hathaway.

Confirms what I've suspected and expressed here before: Alder Lake is just a cobbled together mess of an architecture originally designed to be used in a chiplet based product. (I've surmised on the hurriedly cobbled together part many times on this forum)

Thank you so much, @DAPUNISHER
What? Alder Lake is the only LGA1700 that doesn’t have these issues.

I was referring to the cobbling together of P-cores and E-cores. They wouldn't have needed to do that if they had better process technology to pack 16 P-cores in the same space as the ADL/RPL die.

Tell him to come on these forums and keep himself abreast of the latest news and reviews. You don't write off a company due to one bad experience. That's dumb. He's probably now paying a fortune in electricity bills by sticking with Intel for his computation needs. His loss. But then, rich people like him are keeping Intel afloat so maybe we should thank him

Epic Games Sweeney weighs in with thanks to Asus for bios updates.
So funny. But what about users who don't have ASUS mobos, Sweeney Beaney? You disappoint me seriously. Are you getting soft in old age? I expected some outrage at Intel or other OEMs for not having a fix still.

Anyway, hopefully ASROCK will be next (if they can sneak into the ASUS offices and steal the specifics of the baseline setting )

But my guess is that MSI may be next.

So, the "fastest cpu" will now be slower and most likely not the fastest, and Intel admits they allowed this to have the "fastest cpu", but now only those with an updated bios will even get the fix.

And people wonder why some people hate Intel.

Hardwareluxx did some early tests to assess the impact of the Basline Profile on performance in MT benchmarks and games. Content is in German but like the autor says, it's self-explanatory.

Expect most games to remain unaffected, while a few titles will feel the hit.

Hope this is the last time Intel depends on maxing out their CPUs to the limit to win benchmarks. Going forward, they will need to improve IPC at the baseline settings otherwise the extra performance will be worthless in any serious application workloads, thanks to them shaking the confidence of their users. No one aware of this fiasco will ever trust a maxed out Intel consumer CPU to finish their work faster lest they want bit errors creeping into it. The days of enjoying fastest workstation performance on Intel consumer CPUs may well be over. Looking forward to Puget System's and TechPowerUp's analysis of the baseline performance downgrade on the 14900K/KS.

This couldn't come at a worse time for Intel, with the impending launch of Zen 5. Now supercharging Arrow Lake with crazy settings is out of the question for them. They have limited time left to accept defeat or do something really insane (like innovate ) to save face by the end of the year. Of course, this all depends on Zen 5 meeting expectations.

well, with the real stock settings now, they win bassically ZERO MT benchmarks, and yet with higher power consumption than competition. Figure it out.

It was known this OC default thing, but now its official, this is another example of unfear competition from Intel side. Just embarrasing.
