I don't understand why anyone follows Jayz2C. He is so unreliable.
As a sidenote, I don't actively follow his channel. I see his content on this forum and reddit. Most of his video titles and thumbnails are clickbaity material, but I'm pretty sure he does it to widen his audience. Wider gaming audience >>> Nvidia exclusive content.

Looks like Nvidia isn't exactly paying certain content creators to do mini-reviews but more of a relaxed NDA where the incentive is potentially having content out before others, albeit highly limited in what Nvidia lets you test. Content creators then have cover by stating that they weren't paid, which is technically true.

Cover indeed.

Anyone thinking it through understands that not being paid directly is even more sus. For starters, they don't have to put the sponsored video banner on it. Then, the exactitude of what Nvidia requires of you, makes the content minimal effort to create, cookie cutter stuff. The result is easy clicks for dollars. Getting or keeping favored status with Nvidia is an ancillary benefit. They won't be able to refuse you on their daughter's wedding day.

Gaslighters won't be able to counter accusations of these channels being shills anymore. HUB and GN eschewed Nvidia's offer. Where as Jay, who was a self proclaimed shill for EVGA. With them gone, is shilling directly for the green machine now.

Daniel-San, despite what he says, has dreams of being able to quit his teaching job and be a full time tech tuber. If he makes it to 500K subs, I expect he'll make the move. It's not like there is ever a surplus of teachers; he can always go back if he needs the money. Credit where it's due: He does a good job of stroking everyone so it never feels like he is an outright shill. His sarcastically leaning into being called one, is a nice psy-op tactic too. If you pay attention though, you'll see how he slips in every Nvidia talking point. He often does this awkward or perhaps more accurately, uncomfortable sounding laugh. Make no mistake, he does a good job. It's just how he always throws in every talking point about workflows, content creation, fake frames, DLSS, and ray tracing. You know the entire Nvidia required talking points list. I could go on for 1000s of more words about him, he does the used car salesperson schtick the best of all of them. Having that way of telling you what you want to hear, no matter what it was you want to hear.

The one I am disappointed in is Bryan from techyescity. He has been shilling more for Nvidia lately. I guess living in Japan near his kid is creating financial pressures. Particularly since he isn't back home where he can hustle a bunch of systems for cash. While he didn't do the preview; I don't think he was invited. He does have a video following up Jay's shill fest, using some dumb cheesecake analogy. He is brown nosing hard. Or maybe I should call it green nosing.

Anyways, it was good to see Steve and Tim speak out, while being very diplomatic about it. It's the level of integrity we don't just need, but should demand.

No surprises. 4060 is pretty dismal, just as expected.

Not as horrible as 4060 Ti perf/$, and 8GB more reasonable at this price level, but still meh at best.

NVidia really shrunk the memory bus too much, on this generation 60 series, With both their 60 series cards sometimes scoring worse performance than previous generation 60 series. Something I don't think has ever happened before.

At least this isn't coming out during a GPU mining boom, where people would essentially feel lucky to get one of these at MSRP.

In todays market, it's easy to ignore these cards, and hopefully the lack of sales can make it through the system as feedback... IMO the only feedback that really makes an impact, is product sales and lack of sales.

The best option at this end of the market is a 6650 XT.

TPU RTX 4K performance in FAR CRY 6.

That's gotta be embarrassing for the Ti

Time to dump your card for half the price, 4060 Ti owners!

4060 for 300 USD is DOA, simple as that.
Its ticks all the boxes that dell/pc manufacturers required it too so it'll sell just fine in new builds. It's also a good upgrade for 1060/1660 owners.

Doesn't mean the upgrade hasn't got much smaller as it's only +20% from previous gen, although I don't think the 3060 vs 2060 was much better. I guess that is the new reality - gpu upgrades are now smaller.

As a 4050Ti at $250 I think it would have got a completely different reception.

Which is ironic because what's in a model name? Or $50?

But they seem pretty content at trying to milk it out.

I don't think the name would matter at all.

The $50 price drop would have changed the conversation.

For $199 it would be decent, but $300 is garbage. It can't even do 1080p in Last of Us. 2023: the year of 720p @ $300, yo!

With the PR fluff about power consumption, you can tell the card was basically designed for miners. NV clearly expected to ship pallet-loads directly to them while gamers paid $600+ for "inflation" and "supply chain shortages". They had a nice little rackeetering-extortion business plan lined up until pajama boi dropped his ethereum panties and took a dump all over it.

Thanks NV, you make it very easy for me to keep my money.

Keep this up another 1-2 generations and I'll switch to AMD APUs. I have hundreds of older games I can perpetually replay without ever getting bored. I don't need your wray traycing, aye eye or dee el ess garbage.

Remember though, Nvidia really doesn't want a lot of demand from gamers right now. They are making way more money selling chips for AI people. So they know how to destroy gaming demand, and that's what they are doing. They might release something good when AI demand settles down a bit.

I'm in one of the most neglected departments of my company so I can understand what their PC gaming employees must be feeling right now. Can't do anything coz the black leather jacket fool of a CEO doesn't want to put any more money into PC graphics due to relatively lower post-mining PC market profits.

The name change means that it would have been compared to the 3050, which is does actually crush and the xx50 cards are known as the entry level gaming card. Which this is.

It would have been crowned the savior of cheap gaming rigs everywhere.

Because the 6600 doesn't exist to many.

All this drama over a $300 computer part, lol.

It's not the part that's drawing the drama, but the price. If I sold you a $5 hammer, no one would bat an eye, but if it were $500 then there's something going on there.

If this were a $200 card no one would care and it might even get some praise considering it would have been one of the only reasonably priced products at lunch in recent memory.

Remember though, Nvidia really doesn't want a lot of demand from gamers right now. They are making way more money selling chips for AI people.

That doesn't decrease demand though. Anyone who supplies the first decent $200 card is going to see a lot of sales. They're just adjusting consumption to what they want to supply, but that doesn't change the underlying demand.

Look at it this way:

If they kept the price at $299, and called it the 4050, complaints would just as loud, if not louder.

If they dropped the price to $249, and still called it the 4060, reception would be MUCH more positive than it is now.

The price is MUCH more important than the name.

They would have been much better off with a 3060.
Obviously that's not true.

The PC manufacturers want something that in the marketing looks better then last years offering:
1) a new name so it can be distinguished easily from the last name.
2) new features so they can advertise new things it does.
3) higher performance, and for them 20% is fine.

The 4060 ticks all the boxes. They will be happy - they can stick 4060, faster and DLSS 3 all over the advertising and people will buy it over last years box.

As for the 1060 owners it's another step up, if you held out and didn't buy a 3060 then you aren't going to save a few $$$ now - you will buy the 4060.
