Ugh have been doing a fourth playthrough of Elden Ring, this time with a new character on PC since I just got a 6700 XT a month and a half ago, and have just been blasting through bosses. But was wondering why I was never able to summon. Turns out I forgot to get the summoning bell and had to go buy it in the keep haha.

Dude, I have played this game so much and I STILL always forget to buy the bell!

Was kind of surprised that the difficulty climb going to Journey 2 wasn't much... I was able to blow through the early and mid part of the game very easily. Malenia is giving me trouble though of course.

Elden Beast actually gave me a ton of problems on Journey 3 while Malenia wasn't too bad. But I was using a blood build which is super effective against Malenia and doesn't do crap to Elden Beast.

Hah, there was more to the Subterrian Shunting Grounds that I had not completed during the original playthrough. So there's Mogh and Mohg.

Problem I have with Elden Beast is that as a Melee it tends to run away and I'd use up the stamina running after it.

Elden Beast was by far the worst part of this game. The final boss is pretty much the only criticism I have of the whole game. The whole time you face these big badass bosses who just try to come at you non stop in tight quarters. Then you get to the final boss and it's basically running away the whole time in an area the size of 5 football fields. It just was totally different than anything in the whole game and simply just was not fun.

I know right? Its like reading Stephen Kings IT or Tommyknockers and going through 1000+ pages of supernatural awesomeness only to have the last few pages reveal "aliens"

Similarly one of the surprisingly annoying fights I forgot about and just ran across again was the Red Wolf of Radagon when you fight it on this big plateau. It's guarding three level 7 or 8 smithing stones and is on that SW part of Liurnia of the Lakes only accessible near the end of the Ranni questline. Pretty easy fight in the school but in this wide open area his agility and those constant triple soul arrows he'd spam were a pain to deal with.

Hopefully by the time it's out I will have had time to finish elden ring. I think I have a decent amount left. If I were a streamer I'd say 20 more episodes of 30 min each lol.

Both DS3 DLC and Bloodborne DLC were released 2 months after their announcement trailer. I would expect something similar once the offical trailer drops.

Bizzare that they didn't mention it during the livestream. That they didn't mention a date makes me think it's a ways off.

Agreed. With how stacked 2023 is with big releases I ain't mad if it slips to 2024, but it would obviously be something I'd get and play at launch no matter when it dropped.

Huh... for whatever reason I never had figured out how dual wield works until now. I had moved on, having given up on Malenia in NG+. For S&G I tried fighting her just to test it out... and things were going well enough that I decided to go for it and summon my Mimic Tear. Sure enough, I was able to beat her fairly easily actually.

Try her on NG+7 (Journey 7). Nigh impossible. I finally got her with my mimic tear and two-handed Bloodhounds Fang.

I love the art style of Elden Ring but it's not the kind of graphics where I'm going to think hey raytracing would look really awesome in this game.

I definitely disagree but in this case it doesn't really do much other than tank the frame rate.

Yeah. My pc handles the elden ring ray tracing update just fine but on the ps5 it just becomes a low fps stutter fest. And I hardly see a difference on ps5 other than slowing it down.

I hardly saw any difference between performance and fidelity mode on PS5 aside from the framerate being ass in fidelity mode.

I'll take 60fps over anything lower no matter how good it "looks". If it can't animate smoothly, it don't look good to me, and anything below 60fps isn't smooth to me anymore.

Got no interest in it myself. Game runs great for me on my RX 6700 XT at 1800p 60fps with everything maxed except depth of field, which I hate and always turn off, without RT. But those patch notes say I need to run 1080p low just to get 60 fps with low RT. No way I'm doing that.

Only place I had any problem running 1800p60 was fighting that one walking mausoleum in the snowed over area that shoots magic everywhere, that one fight would drop into the 30s for me because of all the explosions. Rest of the game though was a solid 1800p60.

I managed to beat Elden Beast on J2... people aren't kidding about how effective Wave of Gold is on the frogs.

Also mildly interesting is that apparently the PS5 version of the game is the only one that doesn't have loading tips. It does load rather fast.

Considering this game is 2 years old at this point, I don't have much interest in DLC at this point.

I just started my 12th game. The other 11 games, I have gone to journey 6 on them. So this latest playthrough will be my 67th game. Damn, I love this game.
