Please tell me what is the best watch for me

There is too many videos on fitness related watches to not get lost in the sauce. I just need a watch that will control music playing from my phone & display my current heart rate connected to a polar h10.

A recommendation for an app that tracks walks and runs that integrates well with the watch would be a plus.

I would suggest a GPS Polar watch if you want almost guaranteed compatibility with your hr strap. Polar also has music controls. I prefer Garmin watches, but I don't use a hr strap and I run ultras so long battery life while GPS tracking is a must. The Polar Ignite 3 looks pretty good, but you did not list your budget.

I want to spend the very least I can spend that will get me a solid product. Because I will have my phone with me during my runs (most of the time ~5 miles) I don't think my watch needs gps? As long as it displays my heart rate from the h10 and controls music from my phone I will be happy.

I would like* to spend no more than ~$100, but if a product is premium with a bunch of functionality that is relevant to me and has say, insane battery life, I'd be down to spend up to ~$300.

I find controlling music on my watch very awkward when running, so most of the time I use the controls on the earbuds themselves to pause or advance tracks etc. If you're only running 5 miles any fitness watch that accepts your ant+ hr strap will do then.

First question: are you an Android or iPhone person?

On the iPhone, I'd point you to an Apple Watch SE (especially if you can find it on sale). Tight integration, strap support and everything you need. Not cheap but worth it even if you have to charge at the end of the day.

On Android, I'd consider a Galaxy Watch 6 (especially if you have a Samsung phone) or a Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5. I'd also consider the Pixel Watch 2, but that might be out of your price range.
