Hi! I bought a Lenovo LoQ laptop with rtx 4060, 16gb ram and a 500gb ssd.

Now I just installed a Kingston KC3000 2tb ssd, as a supplement to the 500gb integrated SSD.
I'm installing games via xbox gamepass without any problems, the disk works, I can use it and it's not a single problem, the problem starts when I use Steam and try to install to the new disk there. After opening steam and downloading a couple of GB's I get "disk write error" "not enough space", the disk becomes somewhat unavaialble with trouble accessing certain folders , can't see it in crystaldiskinfo, I can't scan it for errors or try and repair it. Now none of these problems exists before I open Steam, it's 100% working, untill I use steam to download games on it. I also tried Re-installing steam, removed mcafee antivirus, fixed privilige rights, removed read-only and so on, I tried running Steam as administrator, nothing seems to fix it.

That is very strange. Can you do a chkdsk /f on the drive, or try sfc /scannow? (from command prompt) Also could try another program to view the SMART.

I agree. I have my own gremlins I'm dealing with on my u.3 drive. Haven't pinned down where the issue is but, it's showing IO errors occasionally and goes into RO mode until I reboot but, I have a new plan to dismount and scan next time it locks up to see if I can get it back online without the reboot.

It's odd though that steam would lockup a drive. Especially since it's a run of the mill M2. There are different quirks though depending on the OS you're using as well which means either NTFS or ext filesystem being used. Also, if you formatted with MBR or gpt.

Check Event Viewer. Also check how much free space you still have on 500GB SSD.

And is KC3000 2tb ssd used as internal drive or as external USB drive?

What's KC3000 temperature revealed by HWINFO64? Maybe it's too hot?

Yeah no errors to report, even with different SMART programs.

I used GPT

Also

Main disc has about 150gb free space. internal drive, HwInfo shows normal temps, only "disc temp3" is steady at 82c, from boot, to finish. (maybe it doesn't read)
The other temps starts at 35c, went up to 64c and then failed (was at 65 earlier without failing) and that's well within operating tempratures.
I even tried running with the fans on 100% while downloading to see if it did any difference, but it did not.

pinned down where the issue
I think the issue was the Intel board as I rebuilt with AMD and no further issues.

The Kioxia drive though sits around 40c +/- 3c depending on the load. I have it sitting behind of the 180mm case fans passively getting cooled.

Yeah, I can't really do that on this laptop xD, but seems like a warranty thing yes
