With the GFX940 patches in full swing since first week of March, it is looking like MI300 is not far in the distant future!
Usually AMD takes around 3Qs to get the support in LLVM and amdgpu. Lately, since RDNA2 the window they push to add support for new devices is much reduced to prevent leaks.
But looking at the flurry of code in LLVM, it is a lot of commits. Maybe because US Govt is starting to prepare the SW environment for El Capitan (Maybe to avoid slow bring up situation like Frontier for example)

See here for the GFX940 specific commits
Or Phoronix

There is a lot more if you know whom to follow in LLVM review chains (before getting merged to github), but I am not going to link AMD employees.

I am starting to think MI300 will launch around the same time like Hopper probably only a couple of months later!
Although I believe Hopper had problems not having a host CPU capable of doing PCIe 5 in the very near future therefore it might have gotten pushed back a bit until SPR and Genoa arrives later in 2022.
If PVC slips again I believe MI300 could launch before it

This is nuts, MI100/200/300 cadence is impressive.

Where is that from? Beyond3D?
Last I saw, there was a guy there trying to make the point that Nvidia invented PC gaming. Unironically and with lots of support from other members.
The thing got completely out of control when DF"s Alex started posting there. Dude was treated like the second coming.
Ah now I get it!
It's "Beyond 3D" because they live in the 4th Dimension.

It's him.

AMD is guilty of the same thing however. Look at Linustech tips.

Linus is crazy different for his tone for the RX 7600 review compared to the RTX 4060 review. While I agree the RTX 4060 was not a great value or anything, the RX 7600 with essentially the same value considering the performance difference and when you stack on worse features, power consumption, it was just a worse card. But Linus took a slight 10 dollar temporary price drop(note other reviewers were taking the true MSRP of 269.99) and really pushing hard that the RX 7600 is a great card when it is a meh card at best.

He literally has AMD sponsored content such as the video below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUVWuH9RDGQ&list=PL8mG-RkN2uTxUd9RC2bsL1W8Ov-3wAHxv

Other ridiculous claims have been taking the driver bugs in one claim for RX 7900 xtx review, and taking the worst results from a RTX 4090, to claim the RX 7900 XTX was going to catch up and perhaps beat a RTX 4090.

ADD in video's like below along with their thumbnails, AMD's hands are not really clean when it comes to influencers either(one of the biggest ones in terms of computer hardware).

https://youtu.be/YSAismB8ju4?si=CCPdCHg4Bd9zeLBZ

This get me to how AMD likes to market, they like to rage market. That is getting people to buy AMD Hardware at near Nvidia prices out of spite for Nvidia. When in actuality when buying hardware at their original MSRP's, your just supporting a duopoly where both companies want to just make a profit. If people want prices to fall, they can't buy hardware from either company(AMD or Nvidia). Buying AMD hardware at full MSRP out of spite just encourages Nvidia to raise prices from a economic standpoint. Both companies don't mind this.

People actually need to support Intel in this case if they really want better value but you will not see this point pushed much.

And that particular shill also has sponsored Nvidia content, why don't you link that?
Double, triple shill! He shilled Intel too, with the most infamous crap spewing out of his mouth, "It feels over a 100fps to me". Like seriously, are you kidding me you moron? If you are not allowed to run an fps counter, just don't say stupid crap.

That's like the shilling Jarrod Walton does over at TH for Nvidia. On more than one occasion he has said that Nvidia 8GB is more like AMD 10GB. I just posted a couple days ago when he most recently made that claim, what games have muddy textures on AMD 8GB that don't on Nvidia 8GB? I've heard nothing.

Wouldn't take Gaf so seriously, especially when it comes to hardware talk.

I wouldn't take them seriously regardless of the topic of discussion. But of all of the things that I wouldn't take the seriously for, hardware talk is probably one of those things that I would take them the least seriously for.

Possible simple reseller needing to move stock.
Possible first sign of dumping product in prevision of RDNA 4.

7900 XTX is above RDNA4 for the most part. Price drops for 7900 XT/GRE and 7800 XT might be better indication of upcoming launch.

7900 XTX still has a relative performance to RDNA4 and will have to adjust prices as a result. If RDNA4 is as good as rumored, RDNA3 becomes a lot less valuable. The 7900 XTX still has a reason to exist, but not at the current prices.

IIRC the RTX 4060 wasn't found for $300 for a while and the RX7600's price dropped to $250 just days before the former released, so the actual comparison was always $250 RX7600 vs >$300 RTX 4060.
They have both almost the same performance in rasterization at 1080p and same amount of VRAM. Power consumption difference of 120 vs 140W is irrelevant for people getting add-in boards, and the raytracing performance difference is also mostly irrelevant for people using those cards.

So the RX 7600 at $250 had better value than the RTX 4060 at $300 (same performance, better price).
Though I have to say AMD should have launched the RX 7600 at $220 or less just to beat the 4060 senseless in value. N33 is probably super cheap to make at N6 and the margins would have been adequate anyways. Instead, AMD just kept losing marketshare to Nvidia.

It'll keep selling, just in much lower numbers. For anyone who needs more than 16GB on a card
How much volume is that?
I haven't heard of a big compute/ROCm breakthrough on the client side yet, although it could happen in the next 2 years. Almost all compute buyers will go for Nvidia.
Outside of people having big compute needs, I don't think many people need more than 16Go...

I don't disagree with your assessment, I just wonder how much of a market that'll be. I can envision them selling Navi 31 for a bit, but I think they'll be selling leftovers from an already stopped production. As in, I suspect they've already stopped RDNA 3 prod or will very soon.

It's literally 6650 XT with a bit of boost. 10GB is not saving this card, It's fine at 8.

It is price sensitive with 8GB.

For N44 a 96bit 12GB part would probably be received far better than a 128bit 8GB part in the $250-$300 range and for 1080p I don't think the lower bandwidth will be that important Vs having more VRAM to make stuff like TLOU and Ratchet and Clank play better.
