With the GFX940 patches in full swing since first week of March, it is looking like MI300 is not far in the distant future!
Usually AMD takes around 3Qs to get the support in LLVM and amdgpu. Lately, since RDNA2 the window they push to add support for new devices is much reduced to prevent leaks.
But looking at the flurry of code in LLVM, it is a lot of commits. Maybe because US Govt is starting to prepare the SW environment for El Capitan (Maybe to avoid slow bring up situation like Frontier for example)

See here for the GFX940 specific commits
Or Phoronix

There is a lot more if you know whom to follow in LLVM review chains (before getting merged to github), but I am not going to link AMD employees.

I am starting to think MI300 will launch around the same time like Hopper probably only a couple of months later!
Although I believe Hopper had problems not having a host CPU capable of doing PCIe 5 in the very near future therefore it might have gotten pushed back a bit until SPR and Genoa arrives later in 2022.
If PVC slips again I believe MI300 could launch before it

This is nuts, MI100/200/300 cadence is impressive.

As far as 7600 XT, I think this is just N33 with extra memory, and maybe a couple of extra MHz thrown in.

I think it is unlikely AMD is going to be investing any more into RDNA 3 desktop line. It is selling ok as is.

I did a quick check and inventory of RDNA 2 has dried up. Very few models left at Micro Centers, and none are left on AMD.com web side. Lack of RDNA 2 cards improves the sales of RDNA 3 cards further...
From 7600 8GB to 7600 OC 8GB to 7600XT 16GB to 7600XT OC 16GB, I will let you guys see whether feasible from business and technical points

The XT being OC clock speeds or a bit faster and having faster ram for a bit more $ is probably okay enough.

Probably gives it 10% or so on average but will have better longevity due to more vram and in games that need 9/10GB for 1080p deltas will probably be better still.

One thing to put out there, is that AMD acquired a large chunk of Imagination's talent and facilities over the last few years.
Not sure how big of an impact that will ultimately have, but it was a fairly sizeable amount of resources.

980 = 1060, 980ti = 1070, 5700XT = 6600XT, 2080ti = 3070 and alot another generations/cards
It's not a rule.
at least hope N48 would be good, otherwise RDNA4 gonna be another dissapointed generation, like RDNA3/Lovelace
It's not a generation, since only 2 out of 7-ish total parts are left.
And you're not getting any meaningful perf/$ improvements anymore, ever.
You buy what you can afford and that's it.

about perf/$, at least there should be like 7700XT for 350$, otherwise it's not impovement perf/$, or there rumor N48 between 7900XT/XTX for 500-600$

I know this is the RDNA4 Thread - what when is RDNA 5 expected?
I will be needing a new GPU and I am never keen on nvidia, but it needs to be better than the 4090 @ 4k by a good bit. (Actually more as I want an ultra wide 4k or a DUHD)
