I assume you're going to ge a 3rd party CPU cooler for overclocking (and also to use your AS5)?

Other than that (and I assume you already have a CPU cooler or left it out), the only thing I don't like is the LiteOn burner (I have a DL liteon burner I call my coaster maker).

You do know that that processor comes with its own HSF right?

Yes - of course.

But why is he getting DDR2 800 and AS5 if he doesn't plan to overclock? If he does, going with a stock HS/F is a bad idea.

I have a Tuniq Tower already. I just need to find some Intel screws for it. If I can not find just the screw-pack, I will buy a new Tuniq Tower and put the one I have currently on my A64 chip.

The stock HSF does a fine job, even when overclocking. You might squeeze a few extra mhz out of your CPU with a better cooler, but not a lot. Some of the aftermarket coolers are very quiet though.

Apart from that, I agree with sjandrewbsme - I would avoid LiteOn, but the rest looks fine.

Check my sig.

That rig will be fine, although I can't speak to the RAM, and I would suggest a better cooler if you plan on big overclocking.

Looks good, the only thing I'd change is the HDD. I'd go for a Seagate 7200.10 320GB instead of the WD2500KS. I have 2 of each, and the seagates are MUCH faster. Though, I do alot of disk I/O intensive things, so I notice the difference. If you don't think you'll notice the difference, then the KS drive is fine. The Tuniq will suit you just fine.

54MB/s - WD 250GB SE16 SATA300
65MB/s - Seagate 7200.10 320GB SATA300

Aye, I saw the 6850 coming out in Q3. I would prefer not to wait another 4 months to have a machine that plays Vanguard with smooth frame-rates.

Thanks for the heads up on the HDD speed differences. I went with the WD mainly because of the price. If I honestly thought it would matter, I would spend the cash and get a Raptor. I will do some checking and see if I can find the Seagate for a similar price to the WD.

Welp, I pulled the trigger and ordered pretty much the entire list, plus I added a Zalman Fan Controller, a new MS Keyboard/mouse, a TT Armor case, and in a moment of weakness, I ordered a Titan Amanda TEC cooler to use instead of my Tuniq Tower. I need a new cooler for my A64 system, so it looks like it is time to take this old machine apart and mount the Tuniq up!

Ouch, that TEC cooler is unnecessary, and from what I've heard, most aren't as good as a Tuniq or a Ultra 120. I haven't really heard anything about that specific cooler though.

It probably is unnecessary, but I can be a tad impulsive at times. I have a buddy that is a peltier nut. We used to chat computers all the time and he would always say if he could find a peltier system that could handle the hotside and condensation problems, that it would be the coolest system ever. Well, the more I read reviews and remembered our previous conversations, the more I wanted to try this thing.

Who knows, perhaps I will even get a wild bug up my butt and do a comparison between the Tuniq Tower and the Titan Amanda just to see how far each allows me to OC and what the temps are on each.
