Rather than burry these in some 1000 page thread, may as well make them easy to find.

The performance is better than I expected. Fair bit faster than a 5700XT, but at a lot lower power consumption. Ray Tracing is poor, but that should not be a surprise. I do find it sad that TPU had to change their `Performance per Dollar` chart to include the obscene street prices

-I wonder if the games showing a large range in performance hits have a canned benchmark or if sites are using different saved game states to do the testing.

Depending on where they are in the game and what is happening on screen, I can see some large fluctuations in performance depending on what the game might need at the moment.
Bullseye.

789.99... 6700XT.. you can buy now.
Infact most of the stock still hovers at around 800 dollars.

Makes the 6600XT @ $800.00+ utterly meanless.... unless your truely an idiot or you got lucky at launch and grab'd one at 499ish, which you can't anymore, or a miner... as it only requires 1 pci-e power vs 2 on the 6700 XT.

GG.... the 6600XT is 2021 WORST Videocard of the year.

Performance difference between the two:

I just want to bump this thread for those of you guys who are still looking for cards....

Get that sapphire 6700 XT... 789.99 is going to be the best you can do without breaking into the 1000 dollar territory.
I just built a system for a friend of mine, and its a great card.
Although i wished he could of gotten a 3070..... but that just ain't going to happen anytime this year.
Also i will bet you that the 6700 XT will hit 1000 dollars in the next couple months, so you will really be hitting yourself on your desk for not getting one if you need a video card, like how some of us are regretting not getting the 6600XT @ 499 when they launched day 1.

Don't worry if you miss out though. There will be plenty of people kicking themselves for not buying at $1000 when the price hits $2000.

I'm writing this as a joke, but it may be one of those posts that winds up being true.

You needed to be quick though. Here the 6600XTs sold out in half an hour.

I really wanted a backup card in case this last until next year or even beyond, and my 5600XT fills that need fine. My 1060 6GB is getting near being the minimum required card in newer titles. It's had a very good run of course. One of my best purchases ever.

There was like a solid 12 hours of 6600XT availability at my local MC

I should have driven down - but in retrospect I should have sent my retired in-laws, who live even closer than I do, to get one each

They are still in stock in the UK. In fact every time I have checked they have been in stock. Pricing has gone up though and the card I paid £330 for is now £470.

Well I am certainly glad you were able to save yourself quite a bit of money! Do they have 6700XTs sitting there as well?

Looks like that is about $650 and in line with what a store like NewEgg wants for a 6600XT in a shuffle.

Looks like if I went there maybe there might something to buy.

Not pictured - a row of GTX 1050ti's in stock (25+ each!) @ $300.

Looks like at some prices any GPU finds a shelf to sit on.

Even if the MSRP is stupid I suggest anyone who needs a card to pick one up. Worst case scenario is you can flip it for almost double what you pay.

There may be a few reference designs that the companies are required to offer at MSRP so get those while the getting is good.

Our local chain has some 6600XT's in stock - Asus Dual Fan and a ASROCK model - for $600.

My 5700XT is fine for my needs, but I've almost succumbed to the hysteria a few times this week ... picking up one of the 6600's "just in case."

I’d be tempted if I were you just to step up. I am not sure what the going rate is exactly is on 5700xts there but getting something new, fully feature compatible with consoles and under warranty for just a bit out of pocket isn’t “dumb” at all in my book.

I mean, if your 5700xt dies tomorrow it’s a $500 paperweight? Ouch 😣 This is coming from a guy who is only moderately sure his warranty is legit on his back alley 6800 😢

I'm possibly salty about R290 drivers being dropped, that's really lazy by AMD. But I agree with HUB and GN, this thing is kind of ass.

128-Bit memory drops it behind the 5700XT in a lot of titles in 1440p. The very fact a "$379" GPU is just a kind of worse (crippled bandwidth) 5700XT is a condemnation of the GPU industry at large right now.

Ray tracing on a 6600 is of course useless. Native res RT on 3060/3060ti is not that great either of course, but on titles with DLSS 2.0, it's not only totally usable, but makes the comparison look absurd, I think I saw numbers like 25fps vs 85fps on the HUB video. Lol.

Nvidia has delivered a number of sadly overpriced and poorly available products for a while now, only making us laugh at revisions with ever higher prices, so it's not that exciting to see it followed up by more of the same from AMD. The launch MSRP is also of course a 'limited' thing where they let AIBs just run the market over in the following era.

Can Intel actually save the GPU market? Something that can game decently, cost under $250ish, and just suck at mining so they don't all buy them, that would be epic. The huge mining outfits are continually destroying the PC scene right now. It would be so much better if what happened to BTC were followed up with the others : domination by ASICs. Eff GPU mining, it's such a drag on the scene.

It's unlikely for Intel to make a GPU that's great at gaming, but bad at mining. In fact, the opposite is more likely.

I'm expecting miners to help fund Intel's entry into discrete GPUs. Even if the gaming performance is sub-par, Intel will still be able to sell every card without having to cut prices. That will give them a lot of time to iron out drivers and make generational improvements without investors getting upset at lower margins.

Well that sort of sucks, but hypothetically if the things turn out to be incredible at mining, maybe it will make AMD and Nvidia GPUs much less appealing to miners, and perhaps Intel can scale production more effectively. Really looking forward to the huge fab builds for Arizona by TSMC and Intel to get operational, though I know that's still a fair ways down the road. I saw estimates where total cutting edge (risk and 1st tier level) fab production would be almost tripled over current levels with the new projects online. That's comparing to 2020 levels of course, and by the time these are online, TSMC and Samsung expansions in Taiwan and South Korea will also have expanded by that point as well.

That will happen to some degree. More supply for GPUs can only help bring prices down across the board. Even if gamers will never buy an Intel card they should thank them for just getting into the market.

Owned for 12 years XFX 5850 card with "Lifetime Warranty" and was happy because hoping one day when card will give up XFX will replace it with BRAND NEW and MODERN card like they did before. So I send my "WONDER CARD" for replacement and today, like "Holiday Surprise" received same 12 year old refurbished one(E8ay $25). So I refused to accept and send it back with "BEST WISHES" and NEVER XFX AGAIN.
Guys BEWARE for XFX WARRANTY SCAMS !!!!!
Friend of mine(E8ay seller) told me someone is buying all old XFX cards in row and he's guessing XFX does it to "COVER" expensive warranties .
LOL. GOOD LUCK XFX.

One word: Wow.

And that "wow" is at what you wrote, and not at XFX's actions.

Given the current global supply constraints on so many things, the age of the card, and the spirit of the warranty from 12yrs ago, I don't feel they did you dirty. While the hypothesis for where they are sourcing the card from is interesting, it is hardly definitive evidence.

I understand your frustration, and you are right to vote with your wallet. But your ire is misplaced IMO.
