I'm considering getting this but only 2 things stopping me:

VA vs IPS
not 16:10

It's for my wife's PC which I use 4% of the time, she could care less. She wants speakers built in which I think it has. What do you think?

how much less could she care?

i was a 16:10 snob when i had a 1680x1050 20" dell (2005 fpw?). then i got a 27" QHD dell and forgot about 16:10. there's a big vertical pixel upgrade and most stuff is still designed for peasant FHD.

I think she'll be annoyed because I already upgraded from 20" to 24", hmmn.

and I'm still a proud 16:10 snob, however she's more likely to play flash games or watch Youtube than edit 100 page Excel .xls docs.

There is nothing exciting about my desk but I'll throw up a couple of pics.

a lil busy but I got my audio gear setup (DAC, AMP, multiple headphones, turntable) also my PS4Pro, work headset. I did some wire management at first but it's just so much shit going on between all that gear and I've changed stuff up so I kinda gave up.

Got a new Eames style mid-century modern chair about a year ago, so that's what's rocking now. I feel like I'm at a battlestation.

Eldest helping youngest play NMS:

lol this takes me back

for 5 years my little bro only wanted to watch me play games

then for 3 years he would play them, but just wanted me to do the hard or scary parts for him

then for 2 years he was able to beat the games, but i could still beat him in multiplayer

and somewhere between age 10 and 11 he got good enough that i didn't have a shot anymore

I wish my two kids got along well enough to EVER help each other out playing games.

The only way they would have had physical contact was if they were in a fight over something.

Just settling in tonight after some work, tons of errands, and some cleaning. Updated setup which has become much cleaner over the last few years, which was just a few posts up in this thread. Sold some audio gear to focus on the stuff I love the most, switched to XBOX Halo Edition, the desk lamp to an architects lamp, upgraded the speakers, got a hybrid tube amp, made more room to re-arrange some things as well - for a more streamlined battle station. I sense some good beer and Apex Legends in my future tonight.

Here's my desk, with a work laptop hiding behind the right monitor and a USB switch to swap my mouse/keyboard between work/personal use. Not pictured: a Steelcase Leap chair (which was a huge upgrade for my WFH after years of shitty Staples chairs). No fancy speakers like some of y'all - just a nice set of headphones; a bit of a habit I picked up after years of living with roommates and in apartments. However, we do have some nice speakers in the immediately adjacent living room if we want some music without headphones.

Here's mine. I'm currently building some bookshelf speakers for it (https://www.parts-express.com/C-Not...-with-Knock-Down-Cabinets-300-7140?quantity=1).

I'm thinking of moving my server and pushing the desk up against the wall, but in that position the window would just give me a view of the side of my neighbor's house instead of the street. I still need to buy and mount some better power strips to the desk.

I like sitting in the corner spot, but maybe my ideal layout would be having the monitor on the right side, a soldering/tinker area on the left side, and my tube headphone amp in the corner position. I also have a 14" PVM that would fit well in the corner spot for retro gaming at my desk, though I am building an entertainment center to house my 27" CRT and all of my consoles (which will go on the other side of the room).

My FIL made this desk and stand in 2022, and modified the stereo cabinet that holds my Rotel power amp, APC's, printer etc, because the cats kept jumping behind it, they love to pull out all the wires. I wanted it simple, and to get the comp off the floor.

That's a cool fuckin desk with that wood and that kind of industrial pipe metal work underneath. That whole thing must be heavy. Definitely get your headphone amp up there. The triangle cutout of the mouse pad is dope.
