Hi all,
I got a bit late here, and now the forum server is rather unresponsive again…

The two overlapping Folding@Home races ended in the middle of the past week, and we still are seeing lots of production in the credits below. Still 7th best team for the entire week.

We've got continuity in most of the other projects. A sharp drop at NumberFields sticks out. At Universe@Home, several of us got hold of chunks of the last tasks sent before the pause into which the project has entered now, and we are top team for weekly output.

Ongoing since the beginning of the month: PrimeGrid's Tour de Primes where individual participants can get badges and perhaps even a virtual T shirt. Upcoming: The first out of six Boinc Games sprints of the year; this one starts on Saturday Feb. 10 at 23:00 AEDT, 12:00 UTC, 07:00 EST, 04:00 PST, and lasts until Tuesday 13th at the same time of day. As usual, the sprint project will be announced at the very start of the sprint.

The validation happens this way:

You rename yourself temporarily in at least one of the projects which Boinc Games is tracking.
As soon as this project performs its next stats export, the Boinc Games server gets to see that the owner of the CPID which you gave took on the temporary name which Boinc Games asked for.
Your CPID is therefore validated. You can reset your name to the original one at the respective project or projects.

For instance, Universe@Home is one of the projects which export stats several times per day. (Many others export just once per day.) If you set the temporary name at a project like Universe@Home, this validation goes a bit quicker than through some other projects. OTOH, speed doesn't matter for this process to work, so you can do this via any one of the projects (as long as it is one which is listed in Boinc Games).

DRFUNGUS a.k.a. drfungus a.k.a. DROFFUNGUS registered at BG, and BG told them to set the temporary name 3AXgYg somewhere. They chose Yoyo@home to do that. BG has picked up on it already, so they could rename themselves back to drfungus or one of the other aliases at Yoyo now.

Technical background: In BOINC, nick names are not unique and can be changed anytime. Instead, the numeric user ID is unique and persistent (per project); and across projects, the CPID is unique and persistent. Boinc Games takes your ability to change the nick name at at least one of the accounts which share the given CPID as a sign that you really are the owner of this CPID.

The process may look awkward at first, but the good thing about it is that you don't need to give away any account passwords, nor any account keys.

Stef is correct. You only need to change the name until BG verifies your account then you can change it back. I took at look at your CPID stats on free-DC and it seems you're only on two eligible projects.

Rosetta@home and LHC@Home 1.0.

Those are the two projects I would suggest you temporarily changing your name on. Any other project you join that's BG eligible you could do this as well, but keep in mind that you must use the same email on all projects. You'll also need to make sure one of the above projects is attached to the same host as the new project(s) you join so the CPID will be the same across all of them.

Indeed; when you register yourself at a new BOINC project and want to have a common identity between this and other projects,
– use the same e-mail address at all of the BOINC projects,
– attach a BOINC client to the new project which already is attached to one or more of your previous projects.
If both is true, the new project will adopt the CPID which you already have gotten from the previous projects.

For instance, Universe@Home is one of the projects which export stats several times per day. (Many others export just once per day.)
