Welcome back to the Weekly Distributed Computing Statistics.

Once more we are 1st team for weekly production at World Community Grid! Ditto at Climate Prediction, LHC Dev@Home, and Symmetric Prime Tuples. Also noteworthy that we are 2nd or 3rd for the week at Amicable Numbers, DENIS@Home, Latin Squares, MilkyWay@Home, NumberFields@Home, ODLK, Ramanujan Project, Rosetta@Home, and now I'm out of breath. %-O (We are furthermore 3rd…2nd/week at the non-compute intensive projects Radioactive@Home and WUProp@Home.) And another highlight: Once again 9th for the week at Folding@Home!

RC5-72 stats are a bit in disarray this time, because my data collecting script only looks at user names, not at the underlying user IDs. Well, at least the script didn't crash the computer or format my boot disk. — In contrast, stats of all of the BOINC based projects are properly tied to user IDs because FreeDC tracks them for us. And at Folding@Home, user names are immutable.

Since I started folding again, I've moved from page 7 to page 4 on the team stats list...moving up slowly but surely. I am currently running a Ryzen 5 5600G, a mobile Intel i5 that's a couple of years old, and a dual-socket Xeon server that's now retired from work and is about 7 years old. I have one more of those servers to add but will probably only run them for another month or two before they disappear.

If you are folding on your CPU then I would strongly suggest to move to another project that makes better use of your CPU. F@H is heavily GPU dependent these days so even pretty old GPUs will out produce even the fastest CPUs these days.

If you're looking to say in the medial field on your clocks then may I suggest one of the following;
World Community Grid - Work availability is low, but you'll eventually get tasks.
Rosetta@home - Work availability is also low, but you'll eventually get tasks. Often times runs out though.
SidDock@home - Work is plentiful.
Tn-Grid - Work availability is extremely low with long periods of no work at all.
Denis@home - Work availability is extremely low with long periods of no work at all.

Using the BOINC Client to attach to these projects you can attach all your hosts to all these projects at the same time and the BOINC client will handle the scheduling of work as they get it. Which I highly recommend.

Also, make sure you use the same EMAIL address for ALL the BOINC projects so your CPID will be the same across them all. CPID is Cross-project identification which is a generated number that lets 3rd party stats sites know you're the same person on all the projects.

It's true that GPUs get a lot more work done at Folding@Home than CPUs can. On the other hand, they don't submit projects which can run alternatively on GPUs or CPUs. Rather, they have projects which are exclusively for GPUs, and projects which are exclusively for CPUs. In other words, they do need contributors who leave CPUs active at Folding@Home in order to get a subset of their projects done.

Unfortunately, this fact is seemingly not reflected by how Folding@Home gives credit: All of the CPU projects give very little credit for the electric power and computer time donated, compared to GPU projects. (Last time I checked.)

When I feel a need to complain about the heat of a German summer, I sometimes stop and consider what Australian Summer is like. (I never was there in summer myself, but in spring once.) So, vice versa, maybe it could be of help to you to draw a mental picture of German Winter? Or, for better effect, Swedish or Canadian. ;-)

Thanks - I'll check things out but I'm fairly attached to folding so I'll probably stick with it even if there are more efficient projects for me to work on.
