Envision 17" fish bowl......1024x768 @ 85hz......but every once in a while is switch it to 1280x960 for a change of pace and it still looks pretty good. All this on a LeadTek GF3 Ti200 64mb.
I think 70 might be outta spec(i got it refurbed for like 250 2 years ago at a bidding site)but it runs fine....60 gives me headaches and i can like see the refresh lines similiar to what u see when a monitor is recorded to tape, just not as bad.
Editn a leadtek GF4 Ti4200 64 mb, was on a TNT2 Leadtek before....always will use leadtek for 2d quality on high performance video cards
there is no difference between 60hz and 70hz that i can tell on a TFT monitor but as it keeps reverting back to 60hz after playing a game it dont bother me so i just stick with 60hz.
Technically, LCD's don't have refresh rates. They just need to accept multiple refresh rate inputs for compatibility.
I have a 17" Nokia Multigraph 447XPro. I run the desktop at 800x600 @ 120Hz. (Monitor supports 144, but the 30.82 WinXP Detonators won't allow that setting; higher versions do though. The Win98SE 30.82 drivers did allow 144Hz.
I do Counterstrike, Half Life, and Giants at 1024x768@100Hz with Quincunx FSAA and varying levels of anisotrophic filtering.
Homeworld and X-Wing Alliance, and any other game that doesn't do well with FSAA (makes the text unreadable), I use 1280x1024@85Hz. It supports 90Hz, but again, the 30.82 Det's won't allow that.
Everything is set to 32 bit color. I don't like the banding that 16-bit color always causes.
