if you play the "just a little extra" game, better go for RX 7800XT.

I expect the performance difference between RX 7800XT and RX 6800XT to have some increase over time, as the newer RX 7800XT gets better optimizations. It uses the newer RDNA3, with some additions over RDNA2. Also it should draw less power than RX 6800XT.

The RX 6800XT from your link is $470 now. Did you got a lower price than that?

I did play that game. That's how I went from looking at a RX 6700XT to a RX 6800XT. I payed 470USD. The RX 6800 was 369USD. I wanted something that will work in my current board AM3+ board but can migrate to an AM4 board when I have the time and desire to upgrade. I probably won't get around to upgrading for a while.

If you are not using a 4K display, you can use AMD virtual super resolution to play at 4K and take as much of the load as you can off of the 8350.

I am using a 4K TV with all the gaming features. HDMI 2.1 inputs ,automatic low-latency mode (ALLM), 120Hz variable refresh rate (VRR) and FresSync Premium Pro. Once I get it installed I'll need some help tweaking it to compensate for the 8350. I generally don't game higher than 1920x1080 because my vision makes it hard to read text at anything higher. The RX 6800XT runs about 40-50% faster than the Rx 6700XT so I decided it was worth the extra 170USD. The RX 7800XT is only 5-10% faster than the RX 6800XT so not worth it. I don't know what the ray tracing improvement is but that is not a consideration at the moment.

The 8350 will be the hard limit in every title regardless. Not a lot to be done about it. Ray tracing adds CPU load so definitely a good idea to avoid it. Other than that just settle in as best you can and upgrade when time and motivation permits.

I know I'm currently GPU limited especially with only 3GB of Vram but I have no idea how much more GPU performance I will be able to get.
