WINE vs Cdega for gaming

I'm looking for those with experience. Is Cdega worth the 5/month to attempt Linux gaming? I really want to move back over to Linux full time now that I'm playing less games, but I'd rather not be forced to play none. I was a Transgaming subscriber back when it was still WineX a good number of years ago and I recall playing WC3 with no problems. I'm wondering now whether or not anyone has good/bad things to say about Cdega, or even Wine for that matter. On the up side, I've really gotten a hankering to play Doom 3 and Quake 4 again recently, good thing they have native Linux support!

CSS and HL2 worked for me through Cedega. Never tried with Wine.

I love cedega, it works great for me, but sometimes wine works better. It just depends.

If you already have the games you want to play then try them in WINE first and if you can't get them working there then consider paying for Cedega.

Cedega runs more stuff for me than Wine or Crossover.

However, two problems:

1) I have a local patch for one game that I can apply to wine but not to Cedega

2) Cedega can only be payed for through Worldpay. I don't use Worldpay, as when I registered they sent me my password in unencrypted mail, did it again when I changed it and did not reply to my mail complaining about this. There's no way I'm trusting these people with my credit card. If they used paypal I had been a subscriber since the beginning, uninterrupted.
