And when Zen 5 finally launches, we'll crucify him!Well said... I for one am more than happy to spread the holy words of St Adroc far and wide for fake internet points and updoots.
What do you mean "finally"? As AMD stated, Zen release cadence was 12-18 months and Zen 4 had been delayed due COVID and CXL 1.1. This means Zen 5 launches in April. AMIRITE?...when Zen 5 finally launches...
The iGPU isn't that big, it's going to be targeting ~1080p for the most part. 32MB is a balanced amount for that resolution - and isn't even bad for 1440p, even if not optimal - any more and you get significant diminishing returns.That doesn't help that much with iGPU graphics. What helps is the infinity cache and they should've included 128MB of it.
This blabbing is boring and small
Admittedly I haven’t checked lately, but last I did, only classic desktop was “dying”, not DIY. DIY was growing.People want: laptops, while desktop, DIY is dying, and selling less and less. Only the highest, of highest end is still living, and maybe not growing, but maintaining its marketshare.
I'm the real Nostradamus and I called for a Computex 2024 announcement months ago. But my prophecies are ignored. Woe is me.
So what this actually means this Select devices are Q4, more Q12025 and as for CES “launch event” devices Q2.No.
Select devices Q3, more Q4, rest of the stack (-halo and KRK1) are CES'25.
You are bringing the wrong energy to this speculation thread. There's nothing to say he's wrong, yet. And no one else is saying anything of import. Chill.But why trust him over any other person on this forum? What history of correct leak information does he have? None that I know of so far.
All clams calmed!..so calm your clams.
You should chill too.You are bringing the wrong energy to this speculation thread. There's nothing to say he's wrong, yet. And no one else is saying anything of import. Chill.
And nothing to say he’s right either. Just like for any other person on the forum.There's nothing to say he's wrong, yet.
You sound reasonable. /sI’m fine with him speculating like anyone else can do. But then it should be made clear that it’s speculation, and should not be considered as facts or claimed to be insider knowledge.
Tech knowledge =/= Insider knowledge.Again, there is NOTHING to suggest he doesn't have insider knowledge. He definitely has much greater tech knowledge, both product and architecture, than most.
Nothing suggest he does have insider knowledge either.Again, there is NOTHING to suggest he doesn't have insider knowledge.
In what way do you mean I'm pessimistic?AMD have made NO COMMENT about Zen5 except that a few years ago, Papermaster sounded optimistic. Adroc is continuing that, which seems to be butthurting you for some reason. If you want to be doom and gloom about AMD, please go back to an intel thread, cos you're starting to bring the mood down here, for no discernible reason. And I definitely don't want to intonate anything about being a plant...
Don't forget zen 5 is 10%-15% st uplift with clock regression priced at $999.You sound reasonable. /s

Reductio ad absurdum, a poor last resort...Would you rather just have me say Zen5 DT will be 50+% IPC, 10 GHz, 64C/128T, at 65W TDP, and $499 for top SKU, and that I got the info from Lisa Su directly? Would that make you happy?
Let's teach him the fusion dance so he can merge with Nosta and Richie Rich and create the ultimate insane hype machine.Well said... I for one am more than happy to spread the holy words of St Adroc far and wide for fake internet points and updoots.
I'm not dismissing the info he provides, but I'm not accepting it as fact either until there is something to back it up with.Reductio ad absurdum, a poor last resort...
I'm also very chill. I've made 2 (OK, 3 now) posts. Hardly a novel. You are the one jumping down another members throat over ALL his "information" being wrong, based on a single point of data, a date, which are known to shift until the very last second, being off. You have NOTHING else to back you up. I understand neither does he, and again, I am not advocating for him one way or another.
Your dismissing everything he's posted (which again, has been a single line of information, it hasn't changed with changing circumstances, unlike MILD etc) over a single specious point of data is disingenuous at best, and counterintelligence at worst.
That said, I'm all for speculating or making educated guesses at this point since we unfortunately have no other reliable information available. As long as it's made clear what is speculation / guesstimates vs actually known certain information.* 5-35% IPC increase
* -5% to 15% frequency increase
* Max core count: 8-32P + possibly 8-32E cores
* Price of top AM5 desktop SKU: $499-$1599
* IO-die: Possibly same, possibly with e.g. RDNA 3.5+.
* Chipset: Possibly same or maybe e.g. node improvement.
* Release date: 2024Q1 -- 2025.
Qualcomm does have an AMD problem, however. A big one. Holy Moly Lisa Su, what are you doing?
Thats what one particular person has been saying for MONTHSFrom this patch, Zen 5 seems to have at most 1x ALU sched + 1x AGU sched (if not 1x ALU/AGU sched), more Golden Cove like (1x Math + 1x Load + 1x Store sched)
Z1 (4x ALU + 2x AGU sched), Z2 (4x ALU + 1x AGU sched), Z3/4 (4x ALU/AGU sched)
Additionally, they have prefetching updates for L1/L2 instead of just stream, stride, burst, nextline
They changed the core a lot.
The only modestly similar parts between it and Zen4 are the actual math FP EUs (but they're twice the size!).They changed the core a lot.
So what happens to Zen 4? Zen 3 is still being manufactured I suppose? Do they stop making Zen 4 chips immediately or are they supposed to slot in below the Zen 5 SKUs for more pricing options for consumers?Rest is wack.
