Anyone's guess but DOS1 and 2 were in early access for about a year so it stands to reason BG3's will be around that.

Larian or GOG really needs to learn how to patch properly, there's been 2 patches so far and both require you top re-download the whole f'n game (63gb).

Seems this is a GoG 'feature' , it patches normally if you bought the steam version (3.9gb)

Yeah, I have the steam version and the patches were both pretty small.

Didn't realize this was out yet. Will have to watch some YouTubers to see if I'm still interested. Can't recall if it had a single player campaign or not.

Funny how there was this narrow sweet spot around the 2010's when internet was fast and games were smallish and the whole download and play in an hour or two was a thing.

Now I'm back to downloading overnight and hoping there wasn't a file corruption or connection issue when I wake up.

Loaded and played some for the first time since November 2020. The Early Access file size was something like 75GB so the full game being 125GB was a bit of a rude awakening. My SSD is only about 100GB (it's old) so I had to lay down $40 for a new 1TB drive just to install the game.

Game play was still somewhat familiar though I did notice many changes. The first playable location is now only about 1/3 as long as it used to be. Some D&D mechanics have been added like Guidance centrip on skill checks. Thought it odd that the Dragonborn race had essentially no racial bonuses.

I've played for about three hours, LOTS of graphical anomalies on my 1660ti. Hair just looks wrong. In Game cutscene at the end of the first area didn't render correctly. Movement animations failing after a save. Those kinds of things. Load/save times have varied with a couple having been almost instant and a couple having taken almost a minute.

Will post more as I play more.

Oh, and Larian's insistence on modeling penises and vulvas reminds me of the old GRR Marten jokes.

I feel this game is too much for me to play. I don't understand dungeon and dragons stuff so I'm going to skip this one despite having played divinity original sin although I never finished that game.

ACG, a reviewer I watch for most games on YouTube rated it highly well but after watching some streams it seems I wouldn't even know how to properly progress in the game without understanding all the underlying details.

Who cares if you don’t understand you’ll learn. Just play it and have fun.

I am waiting for others to beta the out of beta game.
I am cool with downloading it a few times, but if i have to redownload the game every week, and restart my save every week on a game they say is over 100 hours, then i'll wait for all the critical patches to be done with.

I bought it and am having a great time. The cut scenes are amazing. Easily the best narrative and immersive experience I have had in years. The combat is D&D, and you really should play in turn based mode if you want to play on anything but easy.

The best part of combat is the creative solutions you can come to with the environment. You can move objects, so you can stealthily block a door before engaging combat. You can push enemies, including off of high objects. You can move crates to get on roofs. You can put oil down, then light it on fire. And lots of other fun spell based effects, like commanding an enemy to drop his weapon, or run away, etc.

I am playing on this system, and have had no issues so far. Great performance.

I was pretty annoyed about the turn based thing then I remembered that after I'd set up all my auto pauses in BG 1&2 that's exactly what they were! 😆

I'm regretting unplugging my PC whilst I was on holiday now, I could have remoted in and set it to download for when I'd got back!
