I've been critical of the government of Israel, which has committed humanitarian crimes against Palestinians for decades. This is corroborated by separate UN reports that Israel furthers a system of apartheid against Palestinians. There is also strong evidence of human rights violations by Israeli troops such as the infamous Netzah Yehuda battalion. The US Leahy Law says we should withhold aid to those who commit human rights violations. I am of the opinion we should restrict military aid to Israeli since it is being used to further human rights violations.
Any institution, or persons, found to be guilty of human rights violations, boycott the shit out of them. I don't care if they are Jewish, Asian, African, whatever. Screw anyone who would further hate. And make no mistake, the Israeli government has long been an oppressor against Palestinians.
It is clear that the government of Israel is rotten to the core. There was still some sympathy from me at the beginning of the war, and while I still believe Hamas is a terrorist organization that needs to be stamped out, any sympathy I feel for the government of Israel is quickly souring and reaching zero.
This is not to say I do not feel sympathy for the people of Israel. I believe most just want peace. But there are many Israeli people who believe it is their right to invade Gaza and oppress the Palestinians living there. That's just wrong.
With that said, I am against any boycotts or acts of violence against Israeli institutions or anyone of Jewish descent simply for being Israel or Jewish. It would be hypocritical of me to advocate for the rights of minorities and oppressed individuals here in the US, and not treat the oppressed in another country the same way. Anyone furthering the system of apartheid fostered by the Israeli government, especially authoritarians like Netanyahu can go die in a fire.
