I've been thinking the exact same thing all this week. Maybe russia isn't the only one planning a spring offensive.
There are hundreds of thousands of Russians in Ukraine.
It would take several years for us to provide Ukraine the ammo needed to clean that up.
Ukraine will have no offensive this year. Especially if they need to gear up for US betrayal next year. Our election is too great a risk to ignore and not calculate for.

The NATO arsenal is being dumped on Ukraine along with endless billions and this person says "If Ukraine has been keeping Russia at bay with draw down dollars, even $24 billion in direct aid is gonna make shit really suck for Russia through 2025."

All I can say is LOL

Well, at least now NATO and the US have to replenish their diminished arsenals at a very high cost to their taxpayers. This will ensure great profits to the weapons manufacturers and endless money for political donations. Win-win.

Question is whether any of this will help Ukraine withstand the Russian offensives? Who knows for sure but the lack of manpower of Ukraine is the main issue here. That is why this new mobilization law was passed and other measures are being put in. Zelenskyy needs more Ukrainian men so his war, on behalf of Western countries, can continue.

I forgot to bring up the artillery shortage, lack of spare parts, lack of cohesion, lack of trained soldiers, lack of air cover and air support and a shortage of anti-air missiles though but that's OK. This new bill will wave that away.

In case you missed it, Ukraine didn't start this war. It was one mans ego that started it, Putin. Wouldn't you agree that it would be better if Russia stopped doing horrible things to it's neighbors?

See, this is how I know you are nothing but Kremlin.
Any independent person without their head stuck up Putin's rear would understand a basic concept.
The choice of war is on the aggressor. The invading nation. The defenders have no choice, especially when you see what happens under Russian occupation.

Would that you had been in Bucha, you son of a bitch.

- I figure having a ton of fresh weaponry will help out Ukrainian recruitment drives. I suspect some of the hesitancy comes from people not wanting to sign up for a lost cause if US support wasn't there, but its there now.

When will America send its soldiers to Ukraine to fight Russia instead of using Ukrainian men as cannon fodder?

French are talking about when, not if. Czechs will probably do the same. Like hell the Poles will be left out.

Going to free up several thousand from the West of Ukraine to head to the Eastern front, should help. There's going to be a lot of new toys arriving after all. Going to be one hell of a shitty summer for the orcs.

I guess chalk up 'fodder' as another English term rail doesn't understand. Or maybe he's just really distraught over the recent news of the US following through with $60billion in help? Must be pretty butthurt to have forgotten what lopsided kill ratios mean. AFU loses dozens a day, on a bad day a few hundred. Russia routinely loses over a thousand a day. That's cannon fodder, and of course blocking units not allowing retreat just add to it, don't they?

I wonder if the Brothers Cyka had any luck locating some of that copium cream. I imagine that would come in handy right about now

Remember the Texas drug dealer Russell Bentley who fled to Donbass to help the Russians? I was thinking about him recently, wondering what ever happened to him (was reading about the AF guy who fled prosecution and joined Russia) Seems someone messed with Texas.

"He was fighting for our guys,” she said. Simonyan gave no details on how he died. The “Vostok” battalion with which Bentley fought confirmed his death, calling for “exemplary punishment for those who killed Russell Bentley”, suggesting he did not die in a Ukrainian attack. Police in Donetsk said on 8 April that Bentley had gone missing after going to help victims of a Ukrainian strike on Donetsk. On a Telegram channel previously run by him, Bentley’s wife, Lyudmila, said he had been “abducted” by Russian soldiers from a tank battalion, and called on them to let him go."

There's a rumor the guy had been raped and then beheaded by his kidnappers.

And the headline and description of bill is a complete lie. This is a nice big budget increase for the US military, with a bit snuck in along side to give cover of helping Ukraine.

-$20 billion of this is US spending on replenishing US military stockpiles (replacing mostly retired/expired weapons previously provided to Ukraine - that should have already been in spending/budget plans) ~ as far as I can tell, none of this actually goes to Ukraine.

-$15 billion is US spending on US forces, including training in Europe. A portion of which indirectly helps Ukraine (training and intelligence sharing), but mostly just funds ongoing US military operations.

-$2 billion is US spending to bolster air and maritime defenses around Ukraine (basically being ready if Ukraine loses...), none of these funds go to Ukraine.

-$14 billion is funding for US arms firms, to purchase weapons for Ukraine. This does help Ukraine, minus the significant portion pumping up the US arms industry profit margins.

So of the $61 billion, $51 billion goes to fund... the US industry-military complex. Of which only $14 billion is ultimately being used to provide weapons or support to Ukraine.

And the other $10 billion of the bill - actually goes to Ukraine! In direct support.
Plot twist, half those bills get half their resources dedicated to Ukraine through back-end unmarked payments, so it's irrelevant. Repubs get what they want, MIL gets what they want, UKR gets what they want, and I guess RU gets less equipment and citizens to maintain.

I'd be fine with my tax dollars actually going to Ukraine's defense. Unfortunately it's just old equipment they can make use of, and I'm just saving tax dollars by not having to get rid of the old stuff.

Helping Ukraine defeat Russian invaders is a bargain for the US and the EU, more importantly it prevents a bigger war where we'd have to expend blood in addition to money and old weapons. It would be more costly to not help Ukraine. Anyone who can't see that is too dumb for the conversation.

Certainly can't blame a country for trying a strategy that's already proven successful either. Cripple a genocidal terrorist state before having to send in your own boots? Watch it collapse sans global world war? Yes. Please. I'll take two.

You'd have to be a mentally defective utter pisshead to skip that deal. Bargain of the century; we learn everything Russia can do while we don't have to pay to decommission things that go boom. More win.

As a lover of peace, and not a Kremlin stooge, you'd agree to give the DEFENDING nation more cannons.
Right?

Biden still has $4B in drawdown authority from previous legislation and I think the supplemental basically doubles that. The issue had been the replenishment account ran dry and the Pentagon doesn't want to send stuff to Ukraine that they don't have money to re-buy. This problem is now likely fixed through the end of the year.

The REPO act also passed so we could either transfer 5-6B in Russian assets directly to Ukraine or spend it on their behalf. I'd probably split it using half to buy every single shell the Czechs can find and give the other half to Ukraine for them to use as they see fit.

America is the biggest meddler known to man and the world is sick of it. You people live in a very pro-Western bubble so you are not exposed to it but the world is very much tired of American and Western meddling and bullying. The rest of your posts are simply trash and not worthy of my response. Tired old insults, acting like little children. Very easy to act tough online. Enjoy your little bubble of naivety and delusions.

Remember, we are in a multi-polar world now so your days of bullying other people and other countries is over. No wonder American scumbag politicians are trying to ban TikTok - it’s because they are afraid of the truth being spread to the average low information American. TikTok is harder to control than YouTube so they must ban it - for freedom and democracy of course.

As you care so much about your Russian comrades being allowed unfettered access to commit all the genocide they want, against all their neighbors, why don't you go volunteer to help out?

Yes. Part of this is simply how the sausage is made in congress. The situation is looking better as more info comes out. Add this to the fact that the Euros are planning a big spend and I think Ukraine will get the boost in resources this year that are desperately needed.

America detractor raildogg:

Control? China (and Russia!!!) are all about control!

The argument I've encountered on the news is that Tik Tok/TikTok being Chinese owned is conduit to China mining its users' data which promulgates the CCP's social control agenda. China itself is a surveilled state. High resolution cameras everywhere they can get them. Privacy does NOT exist in China. They profile everybody. You watch your Ps and Qs or will feel the long cold arm of the government on your shoulder. China cannot be expected to be kinder to foreigners than they are to their own populace.

American congress is not trying to shut down Tik Tok, they are trying to make sure the owners are not subject to control of the CCP and not furnishing them with users' data.

Fascism fans love to howl about Tiktok. China of all places kvetching about it too, pretty hilarious. I don't seem to recall people like Cyka 2 caring at all about a multitude of Western apps outlawed completely in China. Anyone else? Plus, it's all the more petulant and dishonest when you consider all Tiktok has to do is divest. Washington just doesn't want the app weaponized by an expansionist dictatorship known for doing exactly that, to everything. They just dug hidden communication gear out of the huge ship loading cranes at our ports, for instance. Anyone with even a cursory knowledge of the CCP's goals and history, also how apps on devices work, should be able to figure this one out without too much effort. The company itself has CCP sympathies, and the CCP will lean on or crush any Chinese who lack them.

It's good news. I'm glad to see Washington get this right, we've already suffered too many security issues thanks to Il Douche. It's a pity some people have forgotten all the huge damaging breakins Chinese groups have pulled off. The OPM hack in particular comes to mind. Limiting the information this adversary gets on Americans is a judicious use of Federal power and I applaud the people getting it done. Fuck Tiktok and the CCP far as I'm concerned. My stance on genocide and crimes against humanity applies to China every bit as much as it does to Russia.

And yes, Beijing is furious it might lose the ability to data mine as well as influence and filter what content gets to millions of Americans. Why wouldn't they be, given they're on a mission to remake the established world order, and especially America's place in it? There's a lot of idiots up for grabs since the repug party is dead and the GQP is floundering.

A tool for cat videos, staged encounters, and posing clips for predominantly younger users just aren't worth the risk to national security. Period. Find another app kid. Life will go on.

And before anyone asks, yes, sensitive info from other platforms can just be purchased. By anyone. That has to change too, why I support the American Data and Privacy Protection Act having real teeth.
