Hi guys,
There's currently an issue with the spam checker on the main site, so comments are largely being rejected. I'm hoping to have it fixed tomorrow.
Congratulations to Team AnandTech on another hard-fought victory. I knew you could do it, and it validates all the faith I have in you to step up whenever Tom's Hardware starts thinking too highly of itself.:p That's now 3 in a row over TH, and I hope in time we'll get to make it 4.:)
And a...
Hey gang,
As I'm sure several of you are already aware, the scientists responsible for the Folding@Home client recently added Coronavirus/COVID research to the project.
Meanwhile, my moles in the Future office have told me that the Tom's Hardware staff is thinking of having a go at it - and a...
It turns out the problem was occurring across multiple Purch sites. So thank you guys for reporting the issue.
The problem should now be fixed. If it's still occurring, please let us know.
Please, please, please go through the process of logging this and sending us the logs. We can get this stuff removed almost immediately if we know which ad network is delivering this crud. But the converse of that is that these things are essentially random and are geotargeted to avoid...
All of our advertising should be fine right now. The ad department may have been working on things earlier in their search for the source of the recent malvertising attack.
But thank you for the heads up all the same.:)
In John's defense here, this is the first time he's done a Folding race. The first race in 2016 was under a previous editor-in-chief, so John wasn't fully aware of smaller rules.
Regardless, it doesn't seem to have affected anything. Even with their blatant cheating, you guys are still handily...
Hey guys, I need to reiterate that while we greatly appreciate being informed about hijack ads, it's sadly not enough for us to act on. The ad guys unfortunately can't work backwards from a screenshot. So if you're regularly getting hijacked, please please see Viddyvane's post; we need your logs...
(Moving this to Technical Forum Issues)
Hey Craig, we've been having a run of malvertising this week from a bad programmatic ad supplier. Is what you're seeing similar to this thread, or is it something else?
The rules of the contest are actually that the employees aren't allowed to participate. This is because using our lab equipment would be unfair for both sides. It would be like organizing a community basketball tournament and having Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry show up to participate.
Correct on the first two items.
Though AnandTech is no longer based on Raleigh. Technically - and I say technically because we aren't actually located in a central office (everyone is work-from-home) - we are now based in Ogden, Utah, the headquarters of our owner, Purch.
Thank you for the kind words.
For what it's worth, as noted on the About page, my philsophy on the matter is roughly as follows
"Like other news publications since the beginning of time, writing about the world is both a business and a craft. Our goal is to get the best editors we can in order...
The Apple forums was created back when Apple only sold computers and iPods. It's a good place for iOS discussion as well, but that wasn't the point when it was created.
Meanwhile we have this wonderful mobile forum, which is a great place for Android-related discussion. If you disagree, we'll...
