Is this for Rosetta? If I remember correctly, Rosetta sent out a message under BOINC Notices last year to detach the project and then reattach as they switched to a new URL.
Just got a bunch of OpenPandemics GPU work units for my GTX 1060 machine, and the WUs are completing in about 3 minutes or so. Game changer if WCG can keep these WUs flooded into donor rigs!
EDIT: A few units ran for about 5 minutes. WCG is crediting me roughly 900-1000 WCG points for the...
I have the X570 Tomahawk paired with my 3800X and I really like this board. VRMs that rival some premium boards that are several hundred more. Will be my board of choice when I'm able to upgrade my home and work computer to Zen 3 probably next year when inventory is actually available.
Okay, I turned on as many cores as I have access to and there should be 122 cores if I counted correctly. Peanuts compared to some of you other guys... ahem... Mark. I have another 8 I can add but I'm waiting till this weekend for the weather to cool down as it's been unusually warm.
(1) Excitement
(2) Dire need of an upgrade
(3) FOMO. I'm going to guess a lot of people fall into this category because that's how our society behaves nowadays.
I'll admit, sometimes I'll wonder if I'm wasting thousands of dollars on hardware and electricity for no reason. Reading about these successes makes me happy and it's not all for naught.
I should chime in that I probably have one of the most imbalanced systems on AT at the moment. My HTPC is a 2600K @ 4.2 GHz paired with a RTX 2080 Ti. Now, before anyone is wondering if I should be stoned to death for making a ridiculous choice, I did buy the 2080 Ti during the Folding@home...
Yup, the next time BOINC syncs with WCG, you will automatically download the beta work if there are any available. 40,000 isn't a whole lot considering how many WCG users there are. Most of the time, I'd be lucky to grab a handful, if that.
I second that! Thank you for the stats gentlemen.
One race might be done, but the other race to solve the pandemic is far from finished! That said, I barely got any work on my 2080 Ti this prior week, so I'm going to pull it off the project temporarily until things improve. No idea why, but...
On one of my rigs, I got 3 bad WUs in a row. It did resolve itself eventually. I wouldn't worry too much unless you're literally churning out bad WUs all day.
I third the motion of Mark and Tony as the newest members of TAC. As for the Elites, everyone participating in the fight against COVID-19 are Elite in my eyes!:hearteyes::hearteyes:
That said, this is my vote for Stefan's promotion to elite:
Yeah the framerate dips are definitely there but it doesn’t bother me as much as I thought it would. I have a 3700X build all speced out but with all the uncertainty in our world and the fact that I blew this year‘s budget on the 2080 Ti, I will hold off on any upgrades for now. Maybe this...
Do it! I'm kinda glad I took the plunge myself. I game at 4K, and the 2070 Super was okay if you turn down the IQ settings. With the 2080 Ti, this thing can run a solid 60 FPS between high and ultra IQ. I'm actually surprised at how well my 2600K has held up, but then again, at 4K, the GPU...
Not Peppa Pig! I know how you feel. We try to limit screen time, but sometimes you just have to put something on just to shut them up. I feel bad for my kids. My 6 YO daughter doesn't quite understand why she can't go to school, or see her cousins or friends anymore. My 3 YO son OTOH is...
Another update from a WCG tech:

When I told my wife how much a 2080 Ti was going to cost, she quickly shot that down. I then mentioned it was going towards a good cause, so she reluctantly agreed. That, and I told her she can get that designer purse she’s been eyeing when this pandemic is done. :p
It looks like there will be a third major player soon in the fight against COVID-19. I noticed a recent shortage of Rosetta WUs so with WCG, there will be another opportunity to keep those CPUs fed at maximum capacity.

Just a quick FYI for those crunchers that 'set it and forget it'. I noticed these new Rosetta WUs are a bit more memory hungry. I actually had a few WUs stall because it ran out of memory. With my dedicated DC machines, I usually allow BOINC to use 80% of the RAM when the computer is use...

Wowzers!!! Loving the nerd passion during this crisis.
This bad boy just came in. Unfortunately, it looks like it won't be able to flex its muscles. Work still very sporadic with my 2070S and 1060. Luckily, I game at 4K so it's not a complete waste.
