Jeeper's bulletin #11:
"Cross Country (Amicable Numbers)
TSBT seems to lead clearly, but don't get fooled. At least CNT (#2) can still steal the whisky from the Scots. For TAAT (#3) and also SG (#4) this is pure illusion. Both teams are busy with themselves anyway and will run fiercely for bronze."

Jeeper's bulletin #12:
"The hot phase begins! Four decisions are still pending. At the Marathon, there is calm before the final spurt, the Javelin is calculated and timed, the Cross Country is all about the final spurt and the Sprint is full speed ahead. The days of decisions have begun."

On Cross Country:
"The decisive hours run here and again the Czechs show that they are a team of the last hours. CNT is currently leading the field and has pushed TSBT to #2. It remains completely unclear whether the Scots have looked too deep into the whisky cask or whether only the bottling is currently blocked. TAAT secures #3 and makes sure that SG (#4) goes away empty-handed."

On the sprint:
"By now TAAT's performance is no longer a surprise".
(Is this good, or bad?)

If you are not closely following along with the SETI.Germany stats page, TSBT was defeated in Amicable, mostly due to the project crashing (completely normal for a Pentathlon), and the Czezh National Team is probably who crashed it, lol, and they ended up on top, with TSBT (along with the rest of us) being unable to get any more work validated and points counted. So why am I giving a big grin? We took Bronze!!!

nawh, CNT deserved the win ... no doubt. They just simply out power us. Their pendings is probably way higher than any of us on the field. Kudos to them. And Congrats to all the winners!!

Jeeper's bulletin #13:
"Never before has the Pentathlon been as exciting as this year. Even in the Marathon not all medals are awarded yet. Tonight the Cross Country ended with a surprising result. Tomorrow will be four decisions, Marathon, Sprint, Javelin Throw and in the Overall Standings. It is therefore not unusual when you cannot sleep, when your heart is racing or when your hands are sweating. Only blocks of ice could leave that cold."

About the Cross Country ending with a large validator backlog at Amicable Numbers:
pschoefer said:
Now that the clog at Amicable Numbers' validator has cleared, here are the points of the top six teams during the first ~13 hours after the finish of Cross Country:

Czech National Team ........... 131.7 M
The Scottish Boinc Team ....... 36.7 M
TeAm AnandTech .................... 29.5 M
SETI.Germany ........................... 44.6 M
[H]ard|OCP ................................ 21.9 M
Planet 3DNow! ......................... 33.2 M
Of course this includes points of results which were reported only after the end of Cross Country, that is, ones which would not have counted even if there hadn't been a validator backlog. Furthermore, perhaps one or another GPU was moved off of Amicable Numbers once it became apparent that the validator was unlikely to clear the backlog before the finish.

But it is practically certain that the Czechs would have won without these problems too. Even if all their 131.7 M consisted only of results reported today, and the Scots had everything gotten into the queue already yesterday, the Scots would have still missed 16 M.

Only rank 5 could possibly have been toppled, as [H] had only 6.2 M advantage over P3D in the end.

And in the UK .........I wonder what that phrase comes from?? lol I know we can use 'square' in relation to money being settled, but what has a square go to to with numbers anyway??

Jeeper's bulletin #14:
"Today it's all happening at once. No more excuses! Now it's time to test and push your limits."

Marathon at Rosetta@home: "Silver or bronze is the duel of the day here. P3D and LTT don't give each other anything, but LTT constantly manages to shorten the gap. This is gonna be a real heart-stopping finale."

Sprint at Ibercivis BOINC: "We are bursting with excitement and then there is also adversity on the track. TSBT continues to gain ground and extends its lead over TAAT.* TAAT is not active with the Javelin so far, so the question arises, where is the power? An attack and victory would crown this Pentathlon and probably secure them #2 in the Overall Standings."

"Soak up this incredible atmosphere and stay with it."

Haha, figures that I would finally manage to get a remote host running BOINC only to find out the marathon is essentially over
pschoefer was saying in the shoutbox that SETI.Germany might have a Rosetta bunker left. ;-)

At this time we are mostly just seeing the validator catching up with all the results which we uploaded much earlier all day.

(Admin Fran said in the shoutbox that he launched extra validator threads to get it all done in time.)

True, but we're still getting a LOT more work validated than TSBT.
