Alright, so we've had some leaks so far. I don't know if any of it's been confirmed yet, as it's pretty early, but here is what I've surmised so far (massive grain of salt of course):

If if turns out to have RDNA 2 and 12 CU, I could see iGPU performance potentially almost doubling over Cezanne.

If I've made any mistakes or gotten anything wrong, please let me know. I'd also love to hear more knowledgeable people weigh in on their expectations.

Not joking, a 5800H+3050L would probally not be more expensive.
i did consider a similar option & recently saw a 5800H + 3050 for $750 at microcenter but i would much prefer to stick with the much lower powered 6800U if possible. if december goes by & there are not the 6800U options i am looking for, perhaps i will start to look elsewhere. as a lifetime AMD only consumer, i may even explore inteloptions.

Most economical is to buy an iGPU only 6800H based laptop with power settings in the bios, this could be brought down to 25W or so, that allow decent perfs from the iGPU since 15W is somewhat short for this usage.

That's like, what, two models if you consider the 5x00H(sx) line? The few H class igpu only laptops I remember seeing were either very pricey for what you got, had subpar cooling, were ultrathin premium designs, or just not a good package. I think a 6800H only laptop could be a solid product, but it has to be designed with the idea that it can sustain the processor at its maximum boost level.

Edit: I took a look at laptopmedia and used their search. The cheapest 6600u is still more expensive than several 5600h+3050 laptops. Their cheapest 6800u is $900. Their cheapest 6800h without a dgpu is a zenbook 17 at about $1000.

Xiaomi produce a 14" with iGPU only 6600H/6800H, the latter is about 1000€ in France, that include a 20% VAT, so it should be a little less in the US and quite less in China, there s also a 15'6 version.

Shame there is no USB 4.

do you find that as an option very often on any laptop? The only laptop I've ever owned that I could set cTDP required holding a key combination to unlock a hidden advanced BIOS mode.
Limits can also be set from userland, at least for Linux a tool called RyzenAdj exists for that purpose. They got a table which APU gens allow tweaking which parameters (not updated for Rembrandt yet though):

I see there are builds of RyzenAdj for Windows as well so I guess so.
I can confirm this to work with my Renoir. There is a pretty big chance it works with Cezanne and Rembrandt as well.

Oh Im familiar with that tuning utility, I use it on my older 15w picasso laptop at work. I was just talking about BIOS TDP settings that dont reset on reboot. They should be more common but I almost never see the option in laptop BIOS.

Indeed. It seems most OEM just disable the advanced tab in their BIOS. A shame.
My HP envy 13ay certainly has no such settings...

USB 3.2 s 20Gb/s is enough, it s not like it s comparable to USB2..

AMD s APUs based laptops tested at NBC have power settings more often than not, this was already the case with previous gen APUs, some laptops have the settings available under Windows with different power profiles.

Any news lately about when (or whether?) AMD will bring out the desktop version of Rembrandt? I've been holding off on buying a new desktop for it.

Edit: The already-available chip I'm looking at is a Ryzen 5 5600G, which I would get in an All-In-One which would not get a discrete graphics card later. I'm wondering how the Ryzen 5 version of Rembrandt would compare to that.

I used a laptop as a desktop replacement a long time ago and didn't find it to be as comfortable to use as an actual desktop. I never used it as a laptop so I didn't get any use out of its battery. I bring my phone everywhere so I haven't found a need for a laptop anymore. I guess I've outed myself as a distinctly non-power user, but I'm fine with that.

I'd be happy with an AIO with a 6600H (45W) chip that's already on the market, but I haven't found one for sale anywhere.

However, I do care about making load times short. Cezanne has PCIe 3 while Rembrandt has PCIe 4. How much difference in speed is there between those SSD generations?

Load times for what? Windows booting? It depends more on the BIOS if it has a quick boot feature that almost instantly hands off the booting to the Windows loader. My Z97 Gigabyte mobo boots to Windows login screen in less than 25 seconds with a PCIe 3.0 Crucial P2 1 TB SSD (TLC one. Not the current QLC based one that is now for sale).

If you are constantly loading multi-gigabyte files into Adobe Photoshop or Premiere, PCIe 4.0 will definitely make its presence felt there. You can make it even faster with RAID-0 or wait for the PCIe 5.0 SSDs to go on sale in about a month or two.

If your workload depends more on 1T 4K read/write, Optane 905P available from Newegg may be better for you.

Optane is miles ahead in that metric.

That's the closest I've found to a desktop Rembrandt to date. Not an AiO - you'd have to get your own monitor + mouse + keyboard + speakers/camera - but what else can you do?

Actually, I've been looking at the older models those, since I have those accessories. I might consider that when it comes out. Thanks for letting me know about this one that uses Rembrandt!

If it's in your budget, go for it. The 6900HX one looks very nice.

Also while I can't vouch for these guys, I saw them advertised by Google shopping:

These units don't seem to be shipping yet.

Laptop availability is so hit and miss though. I can't get a HP Elitebook 845 G9 with a 6850HS cpu here in Australia. But in the USA they have been able to customize builds for nearly 5 months now to include the cpu. To rub salt into the wound, HP USA is offering nearly 50% off with delivery in Jan. Tumble weeds from HP Australia

I waited for MONTHS for a 6800U laptop that I PAID for in an order, and it had an ETA, but they moved the ETA out for months. Then I got a 6850H the day I cancelled the order. And the same day got a 6800H for my son. (I could have got the nomenclature off a little)
