I think I finished Rainbow 6 3 singleplayer at least 5 times. The originals not as much. Rogue Spear was the hardest.

One pet peeve was that they never modeled the gun you were carrying up until the third game in the series. *Sigh*, we'll never see that again. All we get is craptastic 'Vegas', which is too arcade-y; on the otherhand, the effing aimbot the enemy had in the first 3 games was retarded...

I still remember playing coop with 2 of my friends back in college. It was great time. Usually at the end of the mission we have only like one guy left, and found the last bad guy hiding inside a room with a closed door, sometimes with a hostage. It's do or die, those were the really intense moments, coz it was so close and we didn't want to restart the mission.

I thought it was called "Streets" right? The map with the bunker in the middle?

I was in AoD then me and one or two others along with the top players from other clans made CnB. We dominated the ladder undefeated for awhile then when EQ came out we broke up and some of us went to go play that. We made a fun lil anonymous clan that was around for a short bit also named PPG.

We all played on Mplayer but we would play in both ladders.

For some reason I don't remember ur name from AoD...it has been a while
So u were with counterfeit, Aries, Charon, etc? Charon was always an arrogant ass who made every possible excuse to pretend to be a top player.
I use to play with counterfeit and Aries a lot...beaten Aries on tourney final as well.

Oil Rig was the best map, unless some fucker decided to go and change level. It was always understood that everyone stayed on the same level though. The hallway fighting was epic.

Ugh... hated Oil Rig. People usually got lost, then it turned into cat and mouse for hours on end. Heartbeat sensor does jack on multilevel buildings.

Now Estate. THAT was an epic map. There'd always be people rushing the garage from both teams, major action at the front window too. Frag city.

I started off with Raven Shield (last before vegas), and utterly pwned at it. Joined a pistol clan at one point, which was great fun. I haven't looked at a R6 game since then as I've not liked what they did with Vegas. lost it's 'feel' to me.

Ha! Raven Shield! That was one of our original LAN party games. Estate was awesome, but most of all I remember we were so poor we shared copies. That game was so f'in buggy though, I probably reinstalled 50 times. And the other day I was talking with an old LAN buddy and all of a sudden his cd key came into my brain, and neither of us could believe it was still in there after like 10 years. The things you remember...

Oil Rig and Atheletic Ceter was utilized about a year after the game was released.
Players stayed on the same level, otherwise they had gotten the boot.

Mint was my favorite map, as well as the Airport.

Oo Estate. There are so many great maps. It's been way too damn long. There was a lot of good times spent on that game.

heck yeah R6 (the original one) was my first online shooter game. i got pwnd so bad but i kept playing it. i probably had like K/D of less than .5. fun times. i was on a dial up modem back then (AOL) and had like 300+ ping. the lucky broadband guys would just pwn us all day long. when i finally did get broadband, i pwnd these guys so hard it was night and day difference. eventually moved onto rogue spear but that was the end of my R6 gaming.

I vaguely remember Aries and Charon. I remember Angel of Vengeance, She Devil, Blondfury, Paranoid Android, want to say Darkness? cant remember, he had a T1 line in his house though and I think he worked for Cisco at the time.

Ah...you must be from after the MYM era.
The original AoD's were Charon, Counterfeit, Aries, Voodoo and few others. They went on to Everquest and the team was broken up...then it was reformed a year or two later.
My clan ADP at the time had 250-2 record, and those 2 losses came from AoD's....these guys were pretty good and never lost a game throughout the year.

Aries left AoD and formed HYK with his brother Blackout. They reigned the ladder for a bit then went off.

The one thing I never really got was why people preferred Counter Strike over Rainbow 6. I played CS a few times, and whenever I played, I just thought, "if I wanted realism, I'd rather play Rainbow Six... if I wanted death match, I'd rather play Unreal Tournament. What am I doing in this game?"

Not to knock anyone that enjoyed CS (more power to you!), but I just could never get into it!

I was sitting here thinking about it and I recall seeing the Rainbow Six commercials on TV, but I can't find it on Youtube... bummer . It's too bad Red Storm hasn't done anything too notable lately... I recall winning a copy of their game Dominant Species back when it came out. It was a pretty nifty game as well... too bad I'm not sure where the disc is now .

I remember it, it was fun, but the one I remember the most from years back was Rogue Spear on the Dreamcast (which also included the Urban Operations mission pack), it was awesome, I rented it at first, then I bought it.

Yeah it was horribly buggy, but when it worked it worked quite well. Towards the end it was significantly better though. The AI in single player was horrible though. Not like that mattered, multiplayer was where it was at. Some of the maps made for that game were ridiculous. All glass maps where you just have to shoot at the pane and they fall to their death . I usually tried to get someone on the way down, didn't always work. Also wow the controls were wack. Z to reload, leaning, running, etc.

I founded clan ADP, it stood for "Angry Drunken Peons". We didn't play R6 though.

I did however play a ton of R6 coop with friends. Was one of those unique coop experiences that stands alone and other developers can't seem to reproduce.

The original ADP (Ass Dividing Probes) were founded in 1998. Great guys.

Does anyone remember the N64 version? Ugh. Almost as bad as trying to play Starcraft on N64.

I remember playing SWAT for PC... I loved that game

..Atheletic Ceter...

That level is named "Athletes Village"

I seriously played competative multiplayer r6 on the zone, gspy, and now voobly from 1998 to 2009. Sad, I know. Never found another game that made me stick to it for so long. Battlefield 2 came kind of close.

OH, and if anantech forums were the R6 pre-launch multiplayer chat screen.............................................................................................................................................You'd all be crashed to the desktop right now
