This sums it up well and full warning there are troupes used, there is bad language.
Very appropriate to Pence.
“You’re Supposed to do that” don’t get credit for doing what you’re supposed to do.

Yep .... no credit given for NOT robbing gas stations.

I think he was under enormous pressure, the sort of pressure none of us have ever experienced so I don't know, I'm inclined to cut the guy some slack.

His behavior for the whole Trump administration was absolutely craven up until that point but credit where credit is due.
Your first paragraph is the result of your second paragraph. If Pence didn’t have a reputation as craven, people wouldn’t have seen an opportunity to push him towards sedition.

You want a cookie? You’re not supposed to rob gas stations! Low expectation mother fucker.
Chris Rock sums it up very well.

It better be a decent chocolate chip none of that oatmeal nonsense!

*(and the above bolded was the entire point)

Also.... swearing is allowed here now? (if so it's about time!)

Interestingly enough this is similar to Trump’s pitch to Raffensberger - since democrats won’t give you credit for doing the right thing you might as well do the wrong thing and have Republicans still like you.

Which is false.

Regardless of whatever one's party association, liberals have for the most part given credit where credit is due. While I may not agree with some of their ideas and policies, I have respect for republicans like John McCain, or former Maryland governor Larry Hogan.

I have zero respect for someone like Pence, who was conflicted about performing his appointed duties versus helping to overthrow the government. There should not have been a debate by Pence on what the correct course of actions would be. That Pence felt conflicted shows he is nearly as morally corrupt as Trump. So fuck Pence. He does not get a cookie for deciding not to be an asshat.

Yeah, I don't know really, either way. "Exactly how to feel about Pence's choice" is an obscure question for academic moral philosophers, and I don't think it's of any importance. Leave it as an exercise for the reader.

Frankly, a small part of me is disappointed he didn't try to jump the wrong way, because it would have upped the drama and entertainment value of the whole crisis. And probably further destroyed the Republican Party.

Actually I still consider Hogan to be scum. Speaking out against the orange monkey is good. But him writing in Reagan in 2020 isn’t solving the problem. I don’t care he’s in a blue state. Hold your nose and send a message by voting AGAINST what your party is turning into.

Same with Cheney. Yes great she defended the constitution. She still voted orange monkey in 2020!!!!! As if she needed Jan 6 to truly change her mind.

I don't live in Maryland, though I travel there often in the summer. I was just looking at a broad overview of some of the policies that Hogan has set in place, or tried to set in place, and I think they were geared towards helping the population in general, and not just to enrich the rich.

That does not mean I agree with everything he's done. I just don't think he's scum of the earth, which is the overwhelming majority of the GOP these days.

Policy wise, sure he enacted a more liberal agenda for Maryland. But current he’s bashing everything Biden wants to do. He’s choosing party over country. But he’s probably afraid of giving Dems a blue wave and people open their eyes and see what a Dem supermajority can do and Repugnicans will never win ever again.

More from the 1/6 committee document dump. From transcripts of Cassidy Hutchinson's testimony:

I asume there will be no accountability for Meadow's destruction of likely incriminating White House records.
Oops! District Court accidentally let's the cat out of the bag, FINALLY!
Perry should be an unindicted coconspirator at the minimum.

Lol Smith beating him to the punch. He’s asking SCOTUS to rule if the orange monkey has presidential immunity. But I doubt they’ll take the case.

No matter what it forces SCOTUS' hand. If they don't take the case, then de facto the president doesn't have immunity.
If they do take the case, they have to rule one way (no immunity) or the other (immunity and we may as well end out claims of being some kind of rules-abiding democracy)

If USSC gives Trump immunity that means Biden has immunity... Time for Dark Brandon to take care of this mess once and for all.
If Trump's legal theory holds true then Biden cannot be prosecuted for having Trump killed. Or really, any other Republican who has the temerity to run for the presidency. If Congress tries to remove him from office for this he can have them killed too.

Even a SCOTUS as crazy as this one seems unlikely to sign on to this. Thankfully they've also seemed to have a limited appetite for Trump's other crime related shenanigans, so hopefully that holds true. The way to tell if they are actually trying to help him is if they stay the case and say they will take it up during their normal schedule, meaning massive delay to the trial.

SCOTUS: this is not urgent so onto the regular calendar it goes

*Joe Biden bursts into chambers with a machine gun and hungry dogs asking where Alito and Thomas are*

SCOTUS: on second thought maybe this is important now

Why stop there? Open up a few seats on the SC too.

Well, Jack Smith wonderful play is getting screwed due to some appeal about whether obstructing a government function is actually obstruction of justice, I may have that not quite right but that's how I interpret it. The DC Circuit judge just stopped everything. May not get decision until June!!!
