So you get the sweet desktop space for anything not gaming and don't need to pay an arm and leg on the gpu. but then 1080p on a 32" screen might look pretty bad.

- Not rocket science, people just like the underdog, and gawd damn is AMD the underdog in the GPU market.
When AMD screws up, the rationalizations come easy: They have a fraction of NV's marketshare, their primary business is CPUs, their GPU R&D is flowing into high margin parts like CDNA etc...
When NV screws up, its hard to apply those same rationalizations to the company with ~85% market share, whose sole focus is on GPUs, with a Trillion $ + marketcap alongside the likes of Google and Apple.
In short, we sorta expect AMD to cut corners because honestly they have to. NV should not be cutting any corners anywhere at all for what they are.
