4090 @ 3 Ghz running 3dmark Speedway. Gets about 60-70 fps at 4k. I personally think it looks good, what do you think?

Edit: Average score so far on 3dmark's site for 4090 is 9963. 3090 Ti 5945. 6950 XT 3996.

Highest score is 11k. That's at 3.04 Ghz with a 20% memory overclock.

If you are satisfied with your 3090, there is no reason to upgrade.

I'm happy with mine, but will probably upgrade anyway. I usually upgrade every other generation but this card is a big enough step forward to justify it. The new card should do 4K RT and VR much better.

For those looking for a card, I saw that Nvidia is doing a thing where they'll randomly invite folks that have GeForce Experience installed on a PC that has a 10-, 20-, or 30-series card installed. Apparently, it comes up as a notification in GeForce Experience. Unfortunately, all I got was a free month of Adobe Creative Cloud so far.

Their test configuration does not mention a driver discrepancy.
This is their last GPU review before the 4090 launch, same results, they say v516 for GeForce cards, but I highly doubt they retested all of those GPUs, 3090 Ti was likely tested with whatever driver was the latest when it launched. Same with older 3000 SKUs, same with Radeon SKUs.
Their latest non-FE/custom 4090 SKU review haven't updated to 522 from what they say.

But conclusive proof would be someone testing their 4090 with both v521 and the new v522. I can't even find a download link for the "review kit GeForce v521 driver", let alone have a 4090 tho lol

Funny how the commonly thought performance mark for a high end gaming PC in a current 3DMark bench generation is 10K points... and the 4090 coincidentally scores exactly around that. Very peculiar performance on the 4090s, almost as if they're calibrated around it.

We sure it's only Lenovo who sponsored the benchmark? 😅

The score is basically the average framerate * 100.

For S&G, there's one result of the RX 6400 and they get a whopping score of 90.

That's probably mostly because the bench requires 6GB of VRAM. Same reason the 680M iGPU outscores the 6400/6500XT by a lot in Port Royal, it can adress more than 4GB of VRAM out of the shared system RAM.

Any reviews out there that shows the effects on the 1% and 0.1% frames with pcie generations and lanes? Techpowerup takes a look at frames, but haven't published the 0.1% or 1% frames.

Imagine the boost 4090 could get from turning off CCD and SMT for Zen 4.

-God damn doesn't this crap happen with basically every windows /AMD chip release? Windows scheduler doesn't like AMD's designs and does stupid stuff for a year until AMD/MS finally issue a patch after which the damage is done.

Those who at 1st knocked the 4090 price now have to take it back because the performance is out of sight crazy!

Not really.

I mean, it would be borderline acceptable, if FE price was true for the AIB cards as well. But they are significantly more expensive, MSI Gaming Trio is 400 EUR more than FE! here in Europe, and the ones that about the price of FE like Palit one, are apparently significantly inferior than FE, when it comes to quality of PCB and used components - see Buildzoid review of Palit 4090 PCB.

So if FE is not an option (as its indeed not for me, as no Nvidia shop in my country), then i can decide between similarly priced inferior card or significantly more expensive better build one.

On another note, this guy incredibly annoys me:

actually leaves the second card inside the case, so has perfect opportunity to test thermals and acoustics in such scenario, but he wont even think of running some rendering app that can load both cards at once, instead tests only 4090 under load, claims its 81C is too high and 2 cards is a bad idea and if you really have to, you gotta watercool it. Very informative, would watch again.

JayzTwoCents said Cable Mod is making a right angle adapter that will point the cable up in your configuration. Might be worth a look when it's available.
Its silly that Nvidia and AIBs dont have right angled connectors built in the adapter cables. Or maybe some of them do? But added adapters and contact points just add to potential issues I think.

I'm having some weird driver resets where the monitors black out for like 15 seconds and I have to reload my Chrome tabs containing video, street view etc. Might be the card, the drivers, or the Zen4 platform. I guess I'll just wait it out and update drivers and BIOS'es as they come out.
