I have a HP Pavilion p6370t CTO Desktop PC and is fitted with HP motherboard HP 575765-001 (IONA-GL8E MS-7613 H57), which has the CPU socket LGA 1156 and chipset H57. Intel® Core i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20 Ghz, 3201 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 logical.
1.) I purchased a GT1030 DDR4 Graphics Card to replace a GT220 DDR3. My current card is a GT620.
2.) The GT1030 is PCIe 3.0x4 and the GT220 is PCIe 2.0 x16.
Question: What disadvantages, if any will I experience by using the 3.0 x 4 in a 2.0x 16 slot? Will throttling be an issue ?
All replies related to the above are greatly appreciated. Operating Windows 7 64 bit.

3.0 x4 is half the bandwidth of 2.0 x16, but the DDR4 version of the 1030 is so slow that it won't make any real difference. The PCIe interface is going to be the least of your issues if you're gaming on it.

Yes, certainly. For your usage, you should check out the brand-new NVidia RTX 4080 Super cards.

Seriously, though, if this is for gaming, you should get a bus-powered low-profile RTX 3050 6GB card for $180.

No gaming, none. Usage for video editing only. I would disagree with you as the GT1030 being slow. The benchmarks are far more positive than the GT220: that simple. Match them up, then tell me the GT1030 is too slow.

No gaming, video editing only. Will this card suffice and will it be compatible to the GT220?

If you want a card for video editing, why not get something newer that supports AV1, like an ARC A380 or A310?

"For your usage, you should check out the brand-new NVidia RTX 4080 Super cards".

I'm only trying to match the quality of the GT220 which was originally installed. Operating Windows 7 so my options are extremely limited. Again, will the GT1030 suffice as being at least compatible with the GT220? That really is all I'm concerned with. Not any have addressed the 2.0 x16 being replaced with the 3.0x4, irrespective of the GT1030 being too slow. "Not playing games". I'm using the card GT1030) for video editing and strictly video purposes. The data or specs attached to the GT1030 are fairly good for my PC. However, will I see those performance marks with the 3.0x4 or will the performance be downgraded to 2.0?

* I'm running Windows 7,not 10 or 11.

You might take a 10% hit to performance by the PCI-E, but unless you're getting the card for $50 on sale, then you're better off long-term with the A310 cards.

The A310 from Intel didn't exist when I sold you that card. I'm not even sure that NV GT 1030 was, either.

Honestly, these bottom-of-the-barrel scraping cards rarely get comparative performance reviews, and I cannot answer exactly without some benchmark numbers backing me up.

I threw out 10% as a ball-park figure, and you said something entirely off-topic about Frmr. Pres. Trump .

Yes, I know that. I would believe that you would be adept here. I did match the benchmarks on the sites you listed. You can see them for yourself. *You sold me a bottom of the barrel GT620 for $65.00!

Do I think it's an upgrade? Yes. Do I think that the PCI bus issue is a crippling one? No, not really.
