using the 3.0 x 4 in a 2.0x 16 slot? Will throttling be an issue ?
Well, going from a physical x16 >> x4 will have some impact at some point. Since you're not using it for gaming it's kind of irrelevant to an extent unless you'll be working with higher than 1080 files that push it.

I'm sure there are reasons why you're still running W7 and this ancient setup though but, it might be time to start considering virtualizing the setup and upgrading to something more efficient overall. I can't even find detailed specs for this MOBO.

There is not a person who's not told me to move on from Windows 7 as I have even been offered a free update to Windows 10.
1.) PC's are not cheap and the Towers have Micro ATX , not ATX with the exception of Omen and Customized PC's. Most PC's now have what they refer to as 'customized towers' which is a miniature version of the ATX.
2.) Most all PC's do not have card readers.
3.) All PC's are doing away with DVD Drives.
4.) A lot of programs such as Windows Movie Maker have disappeared "Top of the Line Editor); why they removed this program is unknown to me. There may be a movement away from video but I cannot state that with certainty.
5.) There are no Dell PC'S with audio out (Line Level) which I need. Only HP offers Line Out.
Naturally, one can add on all of the above, yet the cost is increased.
6.) They're now bringing to the floor the new i9 which requires a cooler pipe to dissipate the heat. I'm not keen on the new technology. This is merely a plan by the manufacturer's to keep the masses continuing to purchase 'new' items. Apple does the same thing with cell phones.. When will people learn that they are being duped continually. Most all of the people are enthralled with phones as the PC's have come to a standstill somewhat.
* Regarding your reply relating to 1080 files: I do a lot of 2000k video from dash cams mainly and Youtube has 1440K content. I really have no problem with my current GT620. Will I have an issue with the GT1030? And, at what point will the GT1080 have an impact? Thanks for your input.

** By the way, I'm ancient.

"I can't even find detailed specs for this MOBO".
There are a few sites.
From HP: Any modern laptop and desktop PC with an integrated Intel HD graphics core should be able to output 4k video at 60Hz as long as the computer has an HDMI 2.0 port. If the computer only has an HDMI 1.4 port, then the video would be limited to 30Hz.

I just received my Gigabyte GT 1030 today. On the back of the box it states Minimum system power requirements based on PC configured with an Intel Core i7 3.2 GHz processor.

I have the Intel Core i5 @ 3.20 GHz. Is this an issue? A reply is appreciated.

Seriously, was it talking about power requirements (wattage) or minimum platform performance requirements.

In other words, you just found another excuse to get attention, due to your lack of reading comprehension. Learn to walk free, and get out from under the shackles of Christianity, and learn for yourself.

You don't always have to live your life according to what other people have written down.

You sound awfully jealous. Try looking to God rather than your perverted sayings.

Bottom line, it should work fine.

You seem to have a form "computer OCD". <- just my opinion, not a legal diagnosis.

Both of you need to take a breather, if you cannot get along. Also both of you should refrain from attacking or responding to someone's signature, as political content and discussion is not allowed in the tech forums.

Listen, the "pervert" started it! Here is his digital signature, "This is why we MUST prosecute Fmr. Pres. Donald J. Trump". Donald Trump will be seated as the next President of the United States.

You were told to stop and yet you disregarded a mods instruction.
Everyone is allowed a signature on this forum, even you.
If you don't want to "see" the sigs, then there is an option to turn them off.
