Intel had 2.5 billion in revenue in the quarter just on desktop alone. That's like 20-25 million units. Even a million in retail CPU sales wouldn't even be 5%.
Its going to suck real bad for South East Asia consumers if its all Intel again for high end laptops just like every other yearWith Kraken, they'll have a cost advantage in the mainstream due to it being a monolithic design versus MTL/ARL/LNL tiled approach with expensive packaging.
Kraken for mainstream and Sonoma for budget will be a 2 punch against Intel. RPL 282 won't compete with Sonoma and MTL/ARL 282 won't compete with KRK. Intel saving grace will be their unmatched volume.
Well, at Mindfactory 87% of CPUs sold are AMD, so we re not talking of the same thing, for Intel it s forcibly negligible.
How many 13900k, 14700k, 14900k and even lower such parts bought by OEMs for commercial DTs ?That $2.5B is part of the "Total DT market" as you were saying.

Care to clarify why you think so?Was just thinking about this... Zen 5 can't becoming out at a worse time with the whole industry apesheet over AI.
Care to clarify why you think so?
Turin has AI, so why would you say that ?For one, I wouldn't be surprised if Epyc sales are hurt because of spending on AI instead.
Same here. OEMs have a fetish into bringing Intel only options. While the share of AMD laptops has drastically increased, they still stick to up to Zen 3 + Vega SKUs. I'm hoping next year they'll bring Kraken based designs due to Intel having no viable alternative in the spaceIts going to suck real bad for South East Asia consumers if its all Intel again for high end laptops just like every other year
I am not an expert in laptops, but I thought the 7840U and the 8840U were (could be a little off on the model numbers) were right up there if not in the lead in laptops ??Same here. Watch them bring MTL/ARL-U based designs and try to claim they're KRK competitive
the advantage really is the 1t perf. With Kraken, they'll have a cost advantage in the mainstream due to it being a monolithic design versus MTL/ARL/LNL tiled approach with expensive packaging.
Sadly, not where I live. I can find Intel ADL and RPL designs in abundance. And even some MTL-H expensive designs already.I am not an expert in laptops, but I thought the 7840U and the 8840U were (could be a little off on the model numbers) were right up there if not in the lead in laptops ??
Right, that's true. Compared to MTL/ARL-U, KRK will have 1T and MT, GFX, perf/W, battery life and cost advantage. There's really no comparison with Intel options for mainstream next year.the advantage really is the 1t perf.
Well, AI-capable PCs are also expected to drive sales:For one, I wouldn't be surprised if Epyc sales are hurt because of spending on AI instead.
Both Strix and Kraken will have NPUs with 45+ TOPsSo I guess it delends on to what degree Zen5 PCs will deliver on that.
Yes, but what about Zen5 DT PCs?Both Strix and Kraken will have NPUs with 45+ TOPs
Wonder what market it's aimed at that has the volume for something bespoke. It is NOT.
Bespoke CCD.
Different uncores and memory setups.
It doesn't matter.Yes, but what about Zen5 DT PCs?
Canalys projections are always poo.Well, AI-capable PCs are also expected to drive sales:
It's just a cool part.Wonder what market it's aimed at that has the volume for something bespoke.
Stupid of AMD to include NPU on Zen5 mobile CPU variants then.Canalys projections are always poo.
I hope it hit's like they want it to. Making something bespoke for a halo flex and getting everyone to fawn over it, is a good headspace for engineers to be in.It's just a cool part.
Yes, but what about Zen5 DT PCs?
It was a response needed since only mobile variants were mentioned regarding NPU. And DT PCs are not always paired with dGPU. You should know that by now. But you’re sounding like a broken record about it.You re sounding like a scratched record, how many time did people tell you that in a DT a dGPU will have an order of magnitude better AI perf than any NPU integrated in a mobile dedicated APU..?..
At the end you are just spaming the thread with redundant and already answered questions.
At the end ? Seemed to me it went on long ago.At the end you are just spaming the thread with redundant and already answered questions.

Well, you can always count on ASUS to bring a ROG Strix with AMD.It's just a cool part.
Yeah but MS wants it and unless you have the sticker, no rebates.Stupid of AMD to include NPU on Zen5 mobile CPU variants then.
The mainstream recently got Rembrandt at a good price, I think this+next year the mainstream will be 8540U (small phoenix)With Kraken, they'll have a cost advantage in the mainstream due to it being a monolithic design versus MTL/ARL/LNL tiled approach with expensive packaging.
