Sup Com FA is on sale at the moment for $4 on Steam and considering how much of a downgrade Sup Com 2 was compared to the first one, I would highly recommend any fans of the genre just pick up the digital copy. I also have a physical disk but I picked it up on Steam during one of the sales just for convenience.
Thanks!

but reaching the island in around six hours is a little disheartening.
Maybe they will expand it later with DLC? The original really was long. I remember I got to the top of some tower and then there was a super baddie there that I couldn't take out. I think I gave up after a few retries. The Remake should hopefully be a breeze for me. I do remember hating the graphics and dull colors (especially in comparison with the earlier games with beautifully rendered static backgrounds) so that's going to be another plus for me with the Remake to experience it in modern graphics.

Also look into Forged Alliance Forever(?) mod. Brings tons of maps and online play back.
I haven’t used it in years so I am not certain how active it is.
It was steam compatible:

Yeah - already found that to figure out why I was getting a black screen on startup. The map packs look excellent - but I'll start over with the base maps first. Don't think I've played this in a decade.

Crap I may join you. Be fun to revisit. We can play some two player co-op missions.
Got a ton to do so no guarantees

I’ll keep your offer in mind. First, I need to figure out how to beat the computer players, or I’ll be useless

It would be nice but I read they cut the content for a few reasons (time contraints and issues with new engine) so I doubt they are going to add the original content back. I would absolutely love that, but I don't see it happening. They even cut a lot of content from the DLC Separate Ways where you play as ADA for seemingly the same reasons.

The boss fights have been improved, though if you look on the Steam discussions it's nothing but people bitching about the boss fights. I think they massively improved all of them - even the Del Lago fight and the Lord Saddler fight
(plus they even left the Golden Egg easter egg in the game)
. As for the graphics, it's definitely still a Resident Evil game where most of the game is dark, but with the graphics maxed out, it honestly looks like a movie. My girlfriend asked me what I was watching when she came in and saw me playing it for the first time since she thought it was a new TV show.

I finally beat RE4 remake and while I loved running through the game again, I am fairly disappointed in the length. A large portion of the length is the cut content, but there's also the massive factor that aiming with a mouse makes the game incredibly easy. For normal enemies on the PS2 version, you had aim-assist and just had to flick the analog stick slightly upwards to get a headshot, then run in for a melee attack to finish most of them off. Combat was fun but it was also fairly hectic with large mobs because aiming with a controller sucks ass. With a keyboard and mouse, being able to just pop their heads one after another is so simple that most of the areas where I remember struggling on the PS2, were a breeze on Steam. Being able to stagger any enemy you want simply because aim-assist isn't a thing (unless you turn it on in the options) makes disabling priority targets a breeze (namely those dicks who throw stuff/shoot you from afar while the melee enemies close the gap).

My only other gripe with the length comes from the fact that I was hoping this game would tide me over until Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord got it's 1.2 update which is rumored to come out sometime later this year. It's not so much of a gripe though since I've already started a Professional run on NG+ and a completely new Hardcore run. Plus I still have all the extra game modes to go through and the last bit of stuff to unlock before I can put this one down.

Despite the cut content and the stuff they changed, I still highly recommend any RE fans grab this one.

*Sigh* I'm doing it guys. I'm going to sit down and play through Alien: Isolation for the October Spooky Game.

Made it part of the way into Sebastapol Station and I've already wussed out for the night. Pray for my liver, I'm going to need a lot of liquid courage for this one.

Couple things:

-Atmosphere is absolutely amazing. The Alien aesthetic from the first movie is on full display.
-Graphics are remarkable for a 2014 game. This could have easily released in 2020 and fit right into the line-up (and frankly is fine for 2023 given the incredible performance).

Serious Sam 4 . Got it on a huge discount offer.

So much fun, blasting away.

Me while gaming with a major old school wild west accent :
"
Hooweee !
Bringing them crazy ass bitches some fine blue bean stew !
Sure ain't got time to bleed son.
"

I do turn off the music while gaming. Way too distracting. Much more fun with just the sound effects only.

^ With respect to my post [#510].
While looking up the phrase "blue beans", i noticed that some sneaky thieving rug muncher used the slang for bullets for a whole lot of something else !

Dead Space Remake is pretty impressive so far. At least the combat and exploration. The stuttery performance is annoying, but still highly worth playing. Gonna have to extend my Game Pass if I can't finish this in the next two days lol.

Been playing X4 for the last month or so.
It captures a lot of what Made X3 so awesome but hashas many of the same flaws (badly explained stuff, clusmy UI).

Very much a niche game, but i've got a couple hundred hours in this one now.

I started Deathloop. It’s okay but I don’t like having to play all the way through a level to get it to save progress. It’s not that I’m getting killed, it’s that it means I have to have a long block of time to play it. One can’t play for twenty minutes here and there because one would have to start the level over next time.

-That's a no for me dawg. Who has time for games that don't respect the player's time?

Arkane looks like they've had one helluva fall from grace, riding high with Dishonored and Prey, being a sort of "gamer's game studio", to whatever the hell they are now.

Really hoping they don't eff up Dishonored 3.

Started Balder's Gate 3 about 2 weeks ago. Tons of fun single player so far, and I have a concurrent multiplayer game going with my wife with a different character type. If you like RPGs and DND, definitely one to pick up.

Starting levels over is kind of the point of Deathloop. The whole concept of the game is to find out some information about the area then advancing the day to use the information you found either in the same area or another area. Repeat, over and over again until you have all the info needed to complete all areas in 1 game day. The first few times through a level are the longest. After that you will have some specific goal you can usually knock out in 20 minutes or less.

I thought the game had a cool concept, but became somewhat tedious. The multiplayer is a pain, I turned it off. Might be more forgiving these days as I doubt there are as many people playing.

Doing my first run of Fallout 4. Fun game, but starting to deviate a lot from the sort of "comic book from the 50's about how the year 2000 would be like" vibe.

Always play my first run of a game vanilla, no mods (even if only to figure out what mods I actually want or need) and holy hell the physics and even jumping animation being tied to framerate is definitely one of the more rage inducing elements of this game (Even vanilla Skyrim didn't have this issue for me). I've frame-capped myself in drivers to 59 fps and I've come realize how spoiled I am by 144 fps/hz.

Also load times being tied to FPS, everything was loading lickity split at 144 fps but is taking *minutes* at 59FPS (especially since I have basically everything cranked on my sig rig). God forbid I open a door into the wasteland and there is an enemy on the other side because the load times are so long in that situation that I often think the game has crashed. Alt-tabbing seems to speed things up a lot (since it "uncaps" the framerate) but I've gone back into the game and found my character dead a few times after trying that.

Might be the one thing I mod for at the moment (proper physics with uncapped FPS) that I install. Just don't want to bork achievements popping in Steam.

This was my biggest issue after building my new PC because I tried to play my old save and I was zooming across the wasteland but so was everything else. I actually surprised me how many games will tie the in-game physics or features to the framerate.

still playing L4D 1 and 2. I dunno, the classic games seem to be better than the new crap coming out now. If you really want to roll back, UT GOTY 99 is still one of my Fav games. New maps are still coming out. I guess 1999 was a good year after all. lol
